Most Haunted Places You've Been

What is or are the most haunted place/s that you have ever been to or visited? Did you visit on purpose, for work, recreation, ghost hunting?

The most haunted place that I can confirm I have been to, and is haunted (imo) is the Main Quarterdeck building of Great Lakes Naval base in Illinois.

I would stand watch there overnight, from 10pm-2am, or from 2-7am frequently. And it was not uncommon to here footsteps, doors open and close, or see shadows moving out of the corner of ones eyes during this time. Keep in mind that myself and one other person were the only people in this building at the time, and typically my second was either sleeping, or out patrolling other areas of the base and not in there with me, so I know that it wasn't them.

When I was stationed in Japan, I also had a friend go to and camp for the evening in the Forest of Suicides (Aokigahara). I wish I could have gone too, but was working on that day, as he went on Halloween.

We lived in a haunted house. I was too young to remember other that rocks thrown at our window with no neighbors and three floors up.

Mother sees spirits but I don't. I've always wanted to but the shinin' skipped me. I had two experiences I remember but never seen.

The house I grew up in. It had two spirits; one a woman that mostly minded her own business, and the other a malicious man; tall and skinny, and all that can see him have described him as wearing some kind of religious garb(I haven't ever seen him in form). Those who do have an experience with him says he snuck up on them and his presence felt awful. We do know a religious man died in the house, but only one of the people that mentioned seeing him knew that.

Its been kind of interesting. My grandmother is living in the house now, and sees the woman often. She doesn't know she's a ghost though, and thinks she's her doctor. "My doctor came today" she'll tell my sister(who currently owns the house) "but all she does is just stand in the doorway".

The house I lived in before this was pretty haunted, too, mostly with a ghost named Katie. To quote my own post in another thread:

I did have a ghost at one house I was fond of, though. She'd help me by holding doors and flipping Spongebob on for the then-toddler when it was time for lunch. My husband saw it all one day, and yelled at her, and then it stopped. I yelled at him; she was good help.

She hung out mostly in the basement, but I don't know why. I had a few 'sensitive' guests that mentioned her(and I'm certain they didn't talk with one another). One guest that was sleeping down there said she forgot to set her alarm, and asked if I had shook her to wake her up. I said no, and she told me "some woman did".

Katie didn't like my husband, though. I don't really blame her, after how rude he was to her. He said she pushed him on the stairs once, but I'm not sure if she really did or if he was being paranoid.

Really, I miss Katie.

I wonder why ghosts act so weird, like standing motionless without speaking a word. Why can't they be like "Hey i'm Jim, lets sit down and have a cup of coffee." lol.
Why can't they act normal? ... Don't think that i'm making fun of ghosts. I do believe in the paranormal. But i don't understand why they behave in such a manner.

I have been invited to "haunted" sites by people who wanted to convince me that ghosts exist. None showed up. One frustrated ghost believer commented that my aura of scepticism was so strong that I kept them away.

Did your friend in Japan return from the forest alive? I've read that people who visit the suicide forest often get lost. Some end up dead. Some have seen the trees coming to life. Pretty scary stuff.

Yes, such a thing is possible. They are all around us and yet we can't see or hear them. And even if we do, most of it won't make much sense to us. I think it is probably because they are on a different wavelength.
According to some paranormal researchers, they occupy the same living space as we humans do, but since they are on a different wavelength, our brains cannot tune in properly into that wavelegth. Its just like flipping different radio stations or TV channels. Once you're on a particular channel, you can't watch other channels, even though its right there. :=)

Never apparently witnessed anything like ghosts. One bombed-out building (after WWII) was said to be haunted but was likely used by those more interested in sexual liaisons and not wanting to be disturbed. Seems a bit odd to me that the visuals appear so often without sound unless these could be explained more by illusion or delusion, and which perhaps makes better sense.

My wife grew up on the South coast of Massachusetts in an area called the Bridgewater Triangle due to the amount of (supposedly) paranormal activity:

We used to visit her mom and stay at her house quite a bit, and one of the weirdest things happened to me the first night I stayed there. I was sleeping on the floor of my wife's old room when I woke up to a rhythmic knocking on the wall. I thought at first maybe a tree branch was hitting it because it was windy, but it continued without wind and it was a steady, easy beat. This went on for almost an hour. I fell back asleep before it stopped.

In the morning, I looked outside, but there was no tree. I brought it up with my wife and her mom, but they had no clue. Mice didn't make sense because of how steady it was.

Later I realized there was a child-sized rocking chair up against the wall that hit the wall if it leaned back with the same sound.

So the best I can figure is that it was the small rocking chair rocking steadily for an hour or more by itself in the middle of the night.

My wife's mom believed the place was haunted, saying she saw figures in doorways. I tend towards being skeptical, but I admit my experience was weird. That was the only experience I personally had there.
