Me Myself

Back to my username
Three kinda wide questions:

In your opinion who are the names of the most influencial people in Islam today?
If you can name a few and give links to their talks or websites or anything similar.

What are your opinions about this people and their opinions?

Which who you would like became more influencial or more people listened to and why?

Thanks in advance for the answers.

Ok, so i will only talk about the arabs.

Also, all the links that i give are the first in english that i saw. I didn't watch them.

They are quite famous but doesn't mean all the arabophone muslims follow them.

There's Youssef AlQardawi. An egyptian who have a show in Al Jazeera called "The Sharia and the Life" each sunday.

Yusuf al Qaradawi on Christmas - YouTube

There's also Anadh El Quarni.
He's a saudi and have a show in the channel Iqra which is very famous religious channel.
But sometimes he's in the same show as AlQaradawi (maybe he remplaces him sometimes)

There's also Muhammad El A'rafi, a saudi.
He has a show in the channel Iqra :

Shaikh Muhammad Alarifi Friday Khutba,19,02,1433, My sights in Syria - YouTube

There's others but i don't remember their names.
I think that the most famous are probably those in AlJazera or Iqra.
Some muslims may be influenced by other Sheikhs in their country's channel.

hmm difficult question..because like pashtek mentioned it really depends on where you live and what language you speak. And I think every country has certain people mostly (islamic clerics) who are influencial.
For example back home there are certain people who are influencial in teaching islam and almost every person in my country knows them. But here where I am now no one heard about them.

And I think if you would look at the 2 main languages people speak arabic and english there are certain people who are known for their speeches/charities/lectures etc. Pashtek posted a few well known scholars.
But I think in the english speaking community these are quite known: Yasir Qadhi, Hamza Yusuf, Suhaib Webb,Siraj wahaij,Nouman Ali Khan, Abdurraheem Green,Yusuf Estes.

my favourite in the english speaking language:

Linguistic Miracles Of The Quran ~ Nouman Ali Khan - YouTube

How the Bible Led Me to Islam: The Story of a Former Christian Youth Minister - Joshua Evans - YouTube

Reconciling between Reason and Revelation & the Role of Intellect in Islam - Yasir Qadhi | Mar 2013 - YouTube

The reason why they are my favourite is because they have a clear understanding what Islam is and How to practice it in these societies. They explain the quranic verses in a matter which is easy and practical.

You're welcome !

Well, I don't know what to think about Yousef El Quardawi because i've read many things about him. From muslims and non muslims.
I don't know what is true and what is not, but there's some polemics about him.
It's a Sheikh that i rarely listen to.

Muhammad El A'rafi is ok. Most of time he likes to talk about things that happen to him with muslims and non muslims.
He tries to make us learn by the reality, when he meet people around the world.

I really like Aidh El Quarni.
Each time i saw him on tv, i wait until he finishes.
He talks about the stories of the Prophets and their followers in the channel Iqra.
I just sometimes watch this program. I don't really listen to a Sheikh in particular other than that.

I think what your looking for is this list that gives a brief introduction on the top 500 most influential Muslims. It is called the Muslim 500.

It doesn't include one of the most peaceful influential Muslim, the Khalifa of Islam as they don't consider Ahmadiyya Muslims.

The Purpose of Life - By Dr. Jeffrey Lang (Muslim) - YouTube
An Arab show was talking about his books and when i went to the library to check his books, i had to purchase all the three because i felt like i needed all of them. They simply touched what i was seeking. Once i read them, it totally changed my life, and made look to Islam in a new way, and eased the troubles i had in my heart. He said it was ok to be troubled, to have doubts, then he discussed so many things in a very fair, honest, and logical way. He is not apologetic, he never say bad things about non-Muslims. I don't know what else to say, really. I can't fully describe all what i feel or how much it made an impact on my re-learning journey about Islam. I was born and raised a Muslim, but i felt this deep void, there was something missing, and after i read his books, that was it, the moment which will make me believe again in a rational Islam.

Astonishing, you will never get bored listening to him.

Dr. Salman Alodah: Dr Salman Alodah - YouTube
My current hero. He changed his life and is proud of it, but this change has changed whole generation of Muslims with him.

Yusuf Estes: Yusuf Estes - YouTube
Amazing man, and also very funny.

Amr Khaled: Amr Khaled - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Couldn't find English or subtitled lectures for him but he is very influential.

Ahmad Alshugairi: Ahmad Al Shugairi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Young and very active preacher.

I mentioned only those because i read/listened alot to them and i can trust what they say, and i listened to others but it was a one deal thing, didn't listen that much to others.

I hope that would help you. :)

from my point of view it would be "for religious characters"
1- Yusuf Al qaradawi although i'm against many of his opinions
2- Amr khaled as he leads the idea of the civilized Islam to the youth people
3- Yusuf estes as also he's doing a lot of efforts to teach the people in the west and specially America the real face of Islam
4- Khaled Yasin same as Yusuf estes
5-Pierre vogel doing a lot of efforts to convince people in germany by Islam
and i predict the six will be arnold van dor

for Islamic political characters
1- Mohamed Badie "the head of Muslim brotherhood movement"
2-reccab tayab erdogan the PM of turkey

Unfortunately, in this 'new-time-of-ignorance'-as described by some scholars- the more sectarian a cleric is, the more influential he is regarded by some ill-minded groups of Muslims...
