I watched The Wrestler last night and when it was done I had that, "Did I miss something?" feeling because I didn't know what everyone saw in it that garnered it so much praise. It was ok but it wasn't fantastic.

I started another thread on it (the "Classic Movies on YouTube" one), but I'm currently watching "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" on YouTube. What an awesome movie all the way around.

Saw Slumdog and The Wrestler this past week. Both were good, but The Wrestler was the better movie, hands down. Likely the best movie of the year.

Paris Was A Woman

Paris between the world wars was the undisputed artistic capital of the world. Cultural titans Gertrude Stein, Colette, Djuna Barnes, painter Marie Laurencin, publishers and booksellers Sylvia Beach and Adrienne Monnier and New Yorker journalist Janet Flanner all lived and worked on the Left Bank. Through home movies and intimate storytelling, this documentary re-creates the mood and flavor of this unique female artistic community.

Hung out and saw Phenomena with a friend. Amazing film, amazing director, made all the better by watching it with an amazing person.

Saw Raise the Castle! last night. Basically Kurosawa meets Monty Python. Silly yet fun.

Citizen Mod
Comedy Central's TV Funhouse (2-Disc Series)
DVD/ Color/ 176 Mins./ NR/ 2000
Hosted by Doug Dale and his Anipals puppet friends, this satirical series from creator Robert Smigel ("Saturday Night Live") turns the conventional kid-friendly live-action Saturday morning TV show on its head. Highlights from this shameless series include Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's appearance at the Rob Reiner roast, the "What Do We Know, Part 2" sketch with Bob Odenkirk and, of course, "Dirty Outtakes" with Hojo and Dave.

The Man From U.N.C.L.E.
DVD/ B&W/ 158 Mins./ NR/ 1964
The world is filled with wanna-bes aching to take over the planet, employing whatever means necessary to wrest control from those who rightfully have it. Enter Illya Kuryakin (David McCallum) and Napoleon Solo (Robert Vaughn), two secret agents given the mission by the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E) to stop the nefarious plans of men and women with delusions of grandeur who are gunning for the top spot.

I've read alot about this show but have never seen it.

My Name Is Bruce
DVD/ Color/ 86 Mins./ R/ 2007
Mistaken for the character he plays in the Evil Dead films, B-movie icon Bruce Campbell (playing himself) is kidnapped by the citizens of a small mining town who want him to save them from a vengeful demon. At first, Campbell thinks it's all part of an elaborate prank. But when he realizes the demon is in fact real, he comes face to face with a second terrifying enemy -- his own fear. Ted Raimi co-stars in this tongue-in-cheek comedy.

If you enjoyed this, you will enjoy The Three Amigos and Galaxy Quest.

Saw Slumdog Millionaire, Doubt, and The Wrestler in the past week. All good films - hard to compare, because they are all quite different.

Honestly not blown away by this years Oscar contenders. All solid movies, but nothing I feel the need to watch again.

Slumdog definitely the all-around best of the group though. The cinematography and music were especially well done.

The Twilight People
DVD/ Color/ 84 Mins./ PG/1972
When the evil Dr. Gordon (Charles Macaulay) kidnaps Matt Farrell (John Ashley), he takes him to a remote island to make him a human guinea pig in his bizarre experiments. Gordon's nefarious plan is to create a race of superhumans. So far, however, he's only succeeded in creating a bunch of creepy animal/human mutants. Now, with the help of Gordon's mutant creations, Farrell must stage a daring escape in this cult classic co-starring Pam Grier.

Pam Grier is billed as The Panther Woman.

Directed by Edward "the other" Romero who also went on to film hokey horrors entitled Bride Of Blood and Beast Of Blood

Just A Friendly Reminder.....That the Drive-Inn Movies are now open!!! Grab the family and visit your local drive-inn and enjoy a movie the way it was intended to be enjoyed-outside, with nature.

Why are drive inn's better than theaters?

1. You can bring your own snacks.

2. Two movies for the price of one. Sometimes you pay one low price for the car load.

3. Drive In french fries.

4. You can smoke and drink alcohol. Drink and smoke responsibly and make sure you designate a driver.

5. You can speak during the film without bothering anyone.

6. Barbecues and other family fun.

7. If the film stinks, you can make out with yourself or a friend.

8. Snniiiffff, ahhhhhh....fresh air!

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Just watched "Hombre" with Paul Newman. Pretty good flick.

"Bella" was FANTASTIC.

"The Lion In Winter" with Katherine Hepburn was also great. Just saw that the other night.
