This individual is pragmatic and sensible, knows how to enjoy themself, has a somewhat cynical view of humanity, appreciates a wide variety of things/activities and has a devilish sense of humour, enjoys socialising.

Way off or am I getting warm?

First off, Thank you it is interesting to see others thoughts. I would have to say its a little off. I Like the Billy Joel song because to me it says no matter what happens I'll be alright and in life everything happens. I like styx song because to me it rings true I always have too much time on my hands and this creates problems for me. No man is an island is how I feel about people in general, replace man with human and thats what I believe.

For me its all about the words of the songs.

Ah I dont tend to listen to the lyrics as such...I try to get a general emotional feel for the music itself.

Damn.

I will perhaps have to take the lyrics into consideration!

You sure you are not sensible? :p

blackout

Violet.
Three is not enough ,
so I have no choice but to take this in....
maybe three sets of related threes?
(like I often read my Tarot cards in. ;) )

First Set of three, in chronological order of influence...

YouTube - Led Zeppelin- Since I've Been Loving You (STUDIO VERSION)

YouTube - James and Wes

YouTube - McCOY TYNER, Passion Dance

This is an instrumental "Reading" only.
It expresses a succinct window into my deepest instrumental emotional Self.

Edit: Hint, they express my Element. ;)

I'll post the other two Set's another day. :)

Great thread topic! Here are three songs that fit me quite well...

Imagine - John Lennon
Everyday is Exactly the Same - Nine Inch Nails
Earth Song - Michael Jackson

I would have got them off of youtube but the site is blocked at my work.

The Germs -Circle One

The Stray Cats - Built for Speed

The last one is a tie, because I can`t decide.

Memories Remain

and

Never Alone

both by Dropkick Murphys.

This person has a vibrant personality, free spirited, un conventional, likes to dance maybe, knows how to have fun, is playful and gregarious in nature, enjoys a good argument, isnt judgemental or patronising, has a strong sense of self identity.

Thats the vibes I am getting, hope I might be at least 50% accurate.

I polled people at work because I find this interesting and I think you can find out a lot about a person through the music they like. What I came across was a bias. People didn't like certain music or singers and had a negative reaction to the music because of that. Even myself when certain songs where named.

How do you remove your bias from the formula.

A person with a sophisticated air, projecting an aura of calm mystery and good self control that conceals a smoldering spirit.
A person who loves life and is fascinated with its more esoteric aspects.

Element wise I am not much of an expert I would hazard a guess with either fire or possibly air.

I identify myself with the symbology of Air I think.

I try empathy basically...its hard with the likes of Spice Girls etc..but basically I try to imagine/feel that I really like the song or tune in to qualties that I can resonate to and set aside my own 'identity' if you like, I search for the feelings and emotions the music brings out in me and then again with empathy try and identify with who would respond to the feelings and nuances of the music most positively or strongly.
I doubt my accuracy is particularly good...its a very subjective thing to attempt to empathise.
TBH its rather harder than I thought to explain it as well!

I am empathic so I am...I think almost anyone can be...except psychopaths, they lack the brain structure...so I am informed.

I have a working theory on music. I find it so interesting because it can generate emotions and not just to one type of person but all people the same. Such as musical scores to create fear or love. It also has no reason for being. As we develop it develops as well.

I think I find what you said helpful to my work.
