This thread is being very weird. I just wrote something and clicked the send button but......dud!

Anyway, Right on SuperChicken for the right answer! You Baaaaaaaaahck! :)

I have seen Cheap Trick numerous times and they are still cool old dudes and put on a great show.

Next question: EEEEEEEASY. Name the lead singer of the Offspring.

Dexter Holland!!! FAAAAALLLING, I'M FAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLING!!!!

Which Pink Floyd album was the last on which Sid Barrett contributed?

Bonus Frubals question.... Which song was inspired by Mr Barrett's dis-sheveled appearance, and where did he appear?

I'm really not sure about this, but I think the album may be A Saucerful of Secrets...

As for the second question, the only song that's coming to mind at the moment that was written about Barrett is Shine On You Crazy Diamond. As for the where did he appear bit, could you be talking about when he randomly walked into the studio (though the name of the studio, I've no clue) when the rest of the band were recording (that song, I think, actually), after not seeing him for years, and just sat down and watched for a bit before taking off again without a word...?

Ok, my question:

What single event inspired Bob Dylan to step away from his acoustic, folkie roots and plug in, going electric for the first time?

First question : WOW spot on, only 1 track (Jugband Blues)

Second question :  !!!!!!!!! He turned up while they were writing/recording Wish you were here, and was so disheveled and generally out of it, he reduced the band to tears.

No idea what single event it was, all that comes to mind is Manchester in 1966 and that he got boo'ed off stage as a "pop" sellout. One of the songs he played was "Like a Rolling Stone".

Which Yes! song is their only US #1 hit?

Yeah, the Manchester Folk Festival was a few months after the event I'm talking about, which happens to be him seeing the Beatles performing a benefit concert at the Paramount. After which he immediately asked a friend of his (who's name eludes me at the moment), to bring him to a local music shop where he rented an electric guitar and never looked back.

As for your question, I'm officially stumped, I never listened to much Yes! And so, don't know much about them. Though I've heard a lot about them recently, so I'm thinking I'll have to give them a second chance.

Wow, I went and googled after answering and couldn't find anything about that at all!!! *bows down*

The song was Owner of a Lonely Heart, which is quite possibly the worst Yes! track ever. Trust ya Yanks :p

If you want some Yes! to sample give me a bell on MSN I have about 10 hours worth :) It's pretty... not punky though :D

Does this mean I ask again or is it side away?

I kind of read WAY too much about music and music history. Though that particular tidbit of trivia I learned from watching the 10hr documentary The History Of Rock N Roll, which, by the way, is the single greatest thing that's ever been made in the history of making ANYTHING, haha. If it was legal for me to marry inanimate objects, I would marry that DVD box set, I highly recommend it.

Ahh, yes, ok, I've heard that song.

I'd definitely love to sample some. When I get home from work, I'll catch you on msn (I'm not supposed to be on the net at work, so I shouldn't stay on too long), and the whole Punk thing doesn't matter :p I listen to a lot of stuff that's not punk (Dylan and Bowie being two of my absolute idols), I just have always loved old Punk first and foremost.

Ok, here's one of my favorite music tidbits, let's see if you know it.

What band influenced KISS into becoming the Glam-ish rockers that made them famous and what kind of band were they before they met this other band? (Always makes me giggle when I think about it).

WOW, ummmm..... *guesses* Alice Cooper??? WAIT!!!! Bowie? ummm... the Carpenters :D

*Starts googling History of Rock and Roll* Wow which one is it??? there's about 15 million kinds.

This one would be a gimme for a Kiwi or an Aussie, but I'm guessing it might stump you:
Which band did Brothers Tim and Neil Finn form after the breakup of Split Enz

It was actually the New York Dolls that influenced KISS. The two bands shared a rehearsal space and after watching the Dolls for a while, KISS decided that THAT was what they wanted to do. They wanted to bee Glam-y and be out there like the dolls were with the makeup and big platform boots and stuff. Before they met the Dolls, KISS was a Country band! Like, chaps, cowboy boots and hats.. the whole kit n kaboodle! Can you imagine that?!

Here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002234XQ/102-2577047-6201729?v=glance&n=130 That's the History of Rock n Roll box set that I'm talking about. SO good!

Ok, I know who the Split Enz are, kind of, but I have no clue what band the brothers formed after the breakup. Though, I will say, that I actually read somewhere last night or this morning that the Split Enz will be reforming for an Australia and NZ tour sometime in the future..

Ok, a bit of both my passions incorporated into this question (music and horror movies):

What incredibly cheesy 80's horror movie did Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons have small parts in? For reference, Ozzy played a Reverend and Gene Simmons, a Radio station DJ. (Great movie, btw).

Sheeesh, you guys have been busy this morning. And your questions are tough. The only one I may have gotten without Google was the Yes question. You probably weren't even born when "Owner of a Lonely Heart" was a hit you two. I was. That gives a clue as to my age so I'd better shut up.

Looks like you are having a good time with this....too hard for my brain but will check back in to learn a thing or two....

Haha! I know I wasn't born, I'm almost sure of that, I don't know about Chris though, don't know how old he is. But I know more about music made a decade or two before I was born than I do about music made now or the music made while I was growing up. I'm an old soul when it comes to music, my friends used to joke that I was the reincarnation of Nancy Spungen, hahaha.

That show sounds awesome, Chris, I'll have to check it out.

Trick or Treat is right. I actually own the movie. As a cheesy horror movie collector, it was an integral part of my collection (plus, I only paid like 5$ for it, haha).

In the Queen song Now I'm Here, who or what is Hoople a reference to in the line "Down in the city just Hoople and me"?

Haha!

The one thing that makes me feel young is thinking that my absolute GOD of music, the one guy I worship above all else, had lived, rocked out, influenced and died, all before I was even born, hahaha

I think Chris is older though. He said something earlier about me being young to know all the stuff I know, so that makes me think he's older than me.

Who was your God of music? Did you already state this somewhere and I missed it? I can't spend alot of time online today so I didn't read all of the previous posts...just some. Maybe you should ask that as a trivia question!

Looking at Chris' profile, he seems to be 3 months older than you.....Enjoy the day!

He's not really well known, so chances are, if I asked it as a trivia question, no one would know. Anyway, his name was Darby Crash. He was the lead singer of a 70's LA punk band, The Germs. He was an absolute lyrical genius and he died in 1980, Dec. 7th, the day before John Lennon did.

He's only 3 months older? He made it seem like he was so much older than me! lol

Wow, I thought I knew so much about music trivia LOL.

I have one for you all.

What very famous bassist stopped his performance to chew out the crowd for not being silent?

Yeah, I look OVERLY young. Not just in pics, but in real life too. I usually have to fight with people who argue that I'm only 16.

Ok, did you get the last question I wrote:

Mott??? (the Hoople?) GAHHH!!! lol.

I'm going to look for a new Camera now, catch you up later :D
