What music groups do you guys listen to?

I like just about anything besides rap and country. My favorite band right now is Ghost of the Robot.

I listen to just about anything besides rap and country as well. My girlfriend listens to rap though, which causes me to like "a few" songs. But I love to listen to symphonic music and movie scores. New age is ok, but can be boring. And I also love death metal and heavy metal. I love progressive rock, and punk. Not really punk rock, but old school punk. I am not a fan of emo music. It sounds like they are whining. I love eastern folk music, and classic rock, and all kinds of other stuff. My favorite composers would be... John Williams, James Horner, Hanz Zimmer, Michael Kamen, Danny Elfman, and Brian Tyler. My favorite Metal band would have to be a tie between metallica and system of a down. But anthrax and megadeath are pretty good. My favorite punk bands would have to be the Ramones, The Dropkick Murphy's, Rancid, and of course The Clash. And then there is one of my favorite bands ever... Dreamtheater! Mike Portnoy is the greatest drummer ever!!!!

Over all, I'm pretty eclectic.

I listen to all kinds of music. I bought a classical guitar CD this weekend and am really enjoying it. I love Celine Dion. When I want to feel more power I listen to classical music. I have new age and native American music. I am a great fan of American Idol and love to listen to the different kinds of music.

Well, I listen to all types of music too (some examples from my cd collection: The Beatles, Sting, Norah Jones, Tom Jones, Billy Joel, Primus, Public Enemy, classical music, Michael Crawford, Benny Goodman, Talking Heads, lots of 80s music, lots of 60s music, jazz, Meatloaf, Warren Zevon, Queen, David Bowie...the list goes on and on). My favourite band for 13 years was The Beatles, but they were knocked off the top spot a few years ago by The Bee Gees...ok, feel free to point and laugh now that I've admitted it.

No pointing and laughing here. The Beatles have written beautiful music. I also love the BeeGees. I forgot about my love for big band music. I also have blues CDs. One of my favorites is Harmonica Shaw. He has a song "Have You Ever Seen a One Eyeded Woman Cry?" Love it.

I like a lot of different music...I've been listening to a lot of 80's lately (Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure, Madonna, etc...). My boyfriend is big into electronic music and a few of my friends spin so I've been lured into like some Goa and drum & base (not that I could tell you any DJ names though). I also love a lot of local punk bands around here that have been around for a while (I may be biased since a lot of them involve my friends), and I'm not ashamed to admit that I own a Guns N Roses cd (for those nights when rocking out is in order).

Rock, punk, Irish/English folk, new age, broadway, jazz, classical... usually songs that I A) like the message of B) like from a dancer's point of view (can I make a cool dance to it?) C) like from a singer's point of view (can I sing it or make up a song to it?) or D) like because it is meditative.

the best music has gotto be rock/grunge/metal kinda stuff. yet only 3 people in school actually agree and about 50% of other pupils beat the hell out of us for liking it-but hey, it's good stuff!

I will listen to anything. I like all music and I respect artists. Not a lot of people see how hard it takes to be famous.

Bands: Lords of Acid, Otep, London After Midnight, System of a Down, MC Chris, DJ Assault, NIN, Coal Chamber, Green Day, (hed) PE, etc....

I'm listening to System of a Down - Science right now. As long as the music can have a beat or a nice singer I'll listen.

I've been listening to Classical music the past few days. I've got Johann Christian Bach's "Piano Concerto in E flat Major", playing right now. *Sits quietly in her peaceful mood.* :)

I listen to pretty much everything: classical, folk (though solely "Rennie" folk-- English-Irish folk music from before the 1600s), Broadway, punk, rock. I do avoid some music though... rap (I like the rhythms but the themes are not... well, ME), country (bad folk :p)... pop (bad rock), and... yeah, that's it.

What I really love in songs are unusual vocals which are normally not mainstream. For instance I can't really stand the clean vocals used by most commercialised punk rock bands these days. However gimme the black metal screech or the death metal growl and Im addicted immediatly. I like operatic vocals as well in metal bands (such as those used by Nightwish).

Lyrics are important factor as well, normally the more tragic the better since I find that this is the easiest way for music to make me feel something. Therefore my favourite band ever is Cradle of Filth who combine both beautifully constructed lines along with the talented vocals of Danni Filth.

Although metal is the form of music I listen to the most, and probably always will be, I've recently been getting into punk through Rancid and The Dropkick Murphys. If anyone can suggest any soundalikes or any other kind of punk bands that they like (not hardcore please I've got tons of them already), along with a brief description of what they sound like, then I would very much appreciate it!!
