Muslim prayer versus Christian prayer in the NFL

Since the NFL seems to be handling this well, doesn't seem to be much to discuss now.

It just happened to be a bad call by an individual ref...

What's your favorite NFL team? Niner's fan here.

The funny thing is apparently the whole reason Abdullah was penalized is because he did a slide and then prostrated. It wasn't because he was praying, or so I've heard, it was the slide that was too celebratory.

Yeah, mentioned that in the OP...

1) The NFL came out and declared that the penalty shouldn't have been issued. Fair enough, then...the referee made a mistake.
2) Abdullah himself came out very calmly and said that he thought he was penalised for the slide before the prayer, which is probably (technically) against the rules, actually. He didn't think he was penalised for the prayer itself.
3) The Chiefs themselves have said that their understanding is he was penalised for the slide.
4) If I'm the ref, fair chance I'm throwing the flag before I even realise he's praying, rather than celebrating (per league rules). I do think rescinding the flag once it was realised he was praying would have been sensible, but still...

But my guess is the ref thought the slide was the start of a celebration, not a somewhat flamboyant entry to prayer...lol

Absolutely not. However, if it ever actually happens remember you heard it here first.
I'd laugh out loud if I saw it in a game.
Isn't that gesture, the cutting across the throat with one hand, already an illegal hand motion in the NFL? Seriously. I remember something about that a few years ago being an issue because some players would use it as an intimidation move.

Not associated then with the beheadings going on now in the ME of course.

HMMMMMM...

Good championship last year. You guys deserved the SB. * I say this with pain in my face. *

I'm not over it.
They worked their tail off for that all season. Well deserved, I agree.
Of course we're going for a repeat of history this season you know. Get ready. ;)

Our division is pretty tough minus the Rams.

This will be a great year. I so much prefer competition all around as opposed to one or two teams dominating like the NBA.

Absolutely. I'm not an NBA fan.
I also like the Saints and anyone who trounces the Eagles. I've been a fan of the Seahawks for years. They're my number 1 pick above all others if I had to make a choice.
