Of all subjects. I was taught to memorize and I went to public schools. Went to 2 private collegew that taught memorization. Last semester had to memorize information for American Political Thought. When taking certain literary classes have to memorize author & book. I could keep going but the point is I have yet to be to any school that didn't require memorization. Hell, they even have modern techniques for memorizing invented in the western world.
