My Girlfriend Thinks I'm Gay . . .

Shadow Wolf

It's, just, when I kick back with a chilled glass of pinot grigio, wearing my $125 silk nightshirt and rest my pedicured toes on top our lavender ottoman and start singing, "Who am I, I'm Jean Valjean," my girlfriend looks over and tells me, "Honey, you're acting really gay."
Dude, that is so totally gay!

By employing this stereotype or any other, even in what I perceive to be a harmlessly joking manner, have I been thoughtless and insensitive? Does this bother some gay people?
If you look, you will find many misunderstandings and stereotypes that have worked their way into a mainstream believe. And just as you will find them, you will find people who completely shatter such believes. While it's easy to envision the effeminate, high dollar fashion, pedicured and manicured gay man, what doesn't come to mind is a gay man who drinks beer, watches sports, and has no since of fashion.

People stereotype. It happens. Everyone to an extent is guilty of it. I will boldly proclaim that I love gay men. Now really I mean a certain type of gay men, usually the stereotypical ones that come to mind due to their adorableness and ability to understand emotional issues, but even very masculine heterosexual males can understand emotional issues, but society tends to frown on that.
