Struggling Spiritualist
Hey Madhuri,

Somehow or other I happened to be in Navadwip at the time of your Guru Maharaja's disappearance. I went to his samadhi and offered my respects as I see him as a great devotee of the Lord. Many times when reading his lectures and books I get a great feeling of clear spiritual knowledge coming through. Actually his departure is a great loss for this world.

To begin feeling attachment to or separation from Radha and Krsna, we first need to feel attachment to or separation from our Guru - so to feel separation for the physical departure of Guru is not a spiritually detrimental emotion. Spiritual attachment and separation are two side of the same coin - both completely transcendental. It cannot be compared to lamenting the loss of a material personality.

I would suggest, and some have already, that you try to chant focused japa and meditate on Sri Guru, read his books and articles, try to associate with more advanced devotees, and increase prayer time. Pray to your Guru Maharaja that he will help you in your spiritual life. Tell him honestly how you feel, and try to follow his instructions. Do this with an open and sincere heart and mind, and surely you will come to deep spiritual realization and understanding.

Although many times we as disciples become distracted by the material energy, the important thing is to try to be sincere and cultivate a spiritual atmosphere. Although I have not in this life experienced the passing of Guru - here is an exerpt from "After the Disappearance of Sri Guru" by Srila Gour Govinda Swami Maharaja, another great devotee... You may like to download the complete booklet here -

Anyway Madhuri, I hope you can use this opportunity to advance in spiritual life :)

Haribol,

I hope you will re-gain your spiritual consciousness again.

I can relate a bit to it, when I realised I was losing faith in Islam I felt like crying for my inability to clinge to the faith. However now I see it makes more sense that way.

Thank you :) It's nice to find people who can relate.

Hello Madhuri: My Guru left his body a few years back. It was a reflective time. I was amazed at some other people's grief, actually. It was as if they hadn't heard his messages. He addressed his own death, and explained how he would still be around. In fact I feel his presence more now than I did when he was in his physical body.

So in that sense I can't say I'm sorry. It boils down to whether you really believe it (physical body being temporal) or not.

Aum
