My kitty :-(

So sorry to hear about your kitty, CDRaider. I've always found losing a pet to be just as hard as losing a family member ~ they become very much a part of the family over time. I hope you can find the comfort in knowing that she's loved and has been well looked after. to you and kitty.

I hope everything works out well for you, CDRaider. :) Consider carefully what you tell your sister, to prepare her.

11 years+ is a long, healthy life for a cat and you can tell just by looking at the little furball that he's had a good one with your family.

If it was me, I'd try to spend more time with the cat and make things really comfortable for it, which you sound like you're doing. That's all I would do, really, I suppose.

I hope everything works out well for you. :)

Thanks everyone! I can home and 2 AM and found her laying on the couch in the living room and it made me sad, she usually sleeps on one of our beds (mine or my dad's). I think she can't get on my Dad's bed because its VERY high up and mine is in the basement so she can't get up and down all the stairs. We moved her litterbox upstairs so that ought to do her good.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes. I love you guys!!

I don't know if this is appropriate but I'm sad and I just wanted to share with people.

I've had my cat for 11 years. My dad brought it home from the SPCA for me. My mom and dad were walking down the aisle looking for a cat and my dad was looking for a big fluffy lazy cat and my mom was allergic (mildly) and so didn't care. As they were walking down the aisle my kitty reached out and pawed my mom's shoulder. She was so touched that she picked that one that is FAR from fluffy!

Of course it is perfectly O.K to share your news with us! - That is part of why we are here - what makes this forum different from others; we care about each other.

I can't say "I know how you feel", because we all feel the loss of a pet differently; I am sure. All I can say is that when I lot my lovely 'Blackie', I held her for a long time, unable to accept that she had died; the same happened when a Cocker Spaniel (that was mine) died, when I lived with my parents. It took me such a long time to be able to accept even the possibility of having another dog - but my family now has one.

As you say, let's hope your little sister doesn't have to find her; I am so sorry!

UPDATE: My dad and I went out to the store and bought her those stairs for animals to get on the bed. Sighs.... we ALWAYS made fun of those commercials on TV for those but dad and i love our cat more than we realized. :)

We also got her food and water bowls that are off the ground so she doesn't have to bend down to eat. Its really sad. She sits and drinks and eats with three legs and holds the fourth one up. I'm so glad we got the raised bowl for her, shes eating all her food again. I think it just hurt her too much to bend over and eat.

My dad and I have decided to get a second opinion on the cat. We really think that there are more than 'just two options' like the vet told us. He said 1) wait till death or 2) $4,000 surgey. There has to be more options. Shes only 11 which is young for an indoor cat.

So anyways, thank you for the support. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Very sorry to hear about Kitty. I know how difficult it is to lose a pet. I had my first kitty for eleven years as well before she succumbed to cancer (leukemia). We had her put to sleep in '00. I miss her terribly, but she lives on in my heart.

Well thank you everyone for your support. The pain is almost over. Her front paw is soo bad she can't put any weight on it at all. The tendants in her paw are so tight that she can't straighten it. The second vet said that they could amputate her leg but the cancer would still spread within the month because it is in her nervous system now. We are putting her down this week.

I was looking at pictures of my cat and I realized thatI was too young in the photos. I looked up her shot records... I've have her since I was 8, we got her in 1993. I love her to death but it know that its too painful when my parents had to put cat litter in a cookie sheet because she can't step over the ledge of the litter box.

I love you Kitty.

Thank you everyone for your support.

Hi CDRaider,

I am so sorry that Kitty has been in pain for a while. Times like this are always hard, and often the best decisions for others are the hardest ones for ourselves.

If a forum full of people, on the internet nontheless, can feel how much love you have for your kitty, be rest assured that she can feel it, too.

I wish you much comfort and peace.

UPDATE: TWO NEW KITTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Top Cat: Houdini, origionally named Buttons but we hated that name. When we took him into the room to play with he explored every possible nook and cranny and was obessed with windows and doors and when was in the play room with the other cats, he always took the bed RIGHT by the door waiting to escape. Thus the name Houdini because if there is way out, he'll find it. Boy, fixed, approximentally 10 months old from the shelter.
Smaller cat, named Mocha Latte, but we are calling him Mocha. He didn't have a name, was picked up right before Christmas. Angela wanted to name him Mocha but because he was lighter than Mocha, we added Latte at the end. Beautiful green eyes, very curious. No idea about age, guessing 7 months.

Yup, we have a pantry that is at the top of the steps to the basement so it makes it hard to prepare dinner because you have to open and close the door to the hall that has the pantry from the kitchen... it hard to keep him out. Houdini has already gotten on every surface in the house, and managed to get into the two closed off areas of the house... and we've had him three days. :D
