My liberal city's policies.

I agree with you but it is dangerous calling it that because it allows others to reverse the labelling and come to the conclusion that all liberals, or even the majority of liberals, would support such a thing. It is the same idea, as JerryL points out, as discussing the KKK in terms of conservatism or Middle Eastern terrorists in terms of Islam.
Why is it dangerous to a call it liberal? If liberal groups are the ones pushing the ideas then Im gona think it represents the liberal ideaology. Now if it were only one or two liberal groups and they were denounced by the majority of liberals I would change my mind. But I dont see that happening.

Show me a list of liberal groups that support this decision or similar decisions. Every person on this forum who generally talks from a liberal point of view has condemned this action.

It is dangerous because if the majority of liberals do not support it and you go and label the idea as liberal just because the minority of liberals support it then you are creating incorrect information. It is identical to me saying that the Christians are intolerant of Black people because the KKK are intolerant of Black people and are a Christian organisation.

Gotta back up Fluffy. I'm about as liberal as they come, and I really don't see why the majority should be treated any worse/better than a minority group.

I actually wasn't trying to say that this is general policy of all liberals. The Portland city government just happens to be dominated by liberal democrats right now. The mayor and the entire city council are left leaning democrats.

I don't like to debate partisan politics anymore because in my experience it only leads to flaming. I happen to be a republican, but I don't agree with every word of my parties platform. There are certain issues that I side more with democrats on.

You can understand the inference in the title? If it had been "My black city-council's policies" or "My Jewesh city council's policies", that you would be inferring a statement about blacks or jews.

I support the city next to me that allows anyone who wishes to get a permit to display on sections of public land their religion or a-religious displays. I also support the city that does not allow any. I don't think anyone supports a city that allows a minora but not a nativity.

That's why I clarified myself because I realized the title wasn't really representative of the point. My mistake. Can you understand what I'm trying to say? No, I don't support this policy, but at the same time it doesn't offend me to see a Mennorah. Hell, I don't care if they erect a giant statue of Osiris. Just because it's there doesn't mean I have to worship it. I also wanted to clarify (because of the title I erroniously chose) that I'm not blaming liberals as a whole.

I think I understand you, yes. Nativity scenes never bothered me, and neither did their lack. I love holidays... except Quanza ;)
