My Mum has experiences

She says that they hear voices and do things, tell her to do stuff. She has seen three pshyciatrists, only one said it was mental, he didn't believe in ghosts, one did and the other was neutral.
They only seem to be effecting people who believe in them, I don't neither does my grandad, both of us have never seen them. I actually want to believe in them, but until I see some form of evidence, I will not believe. I've dared them, but they don't seem to do anything.
She has gone to a catholic priest, wiccans, various "specialists", nothing has happened, what do you suggest she does?

She needs to see a psychologist, not a psychiatrist (at this time).

Tell her to ask them what they are, where they are coming from, not to be scared and treat them with compassion and usually they so the same thing back. Has it been happening for a while or is it a new thing?

Burning white sage in the house should clear it of any unwanted visitors..

She burned white sage, its what the wiccans did, aparantly they are evil and just needlessly torture her.

did she ask them why? There is always a reason..
Yes: mental illness.

Antibush, follow angellous' advice. Your mother needs professional care. Not a priest, an exorcist, or burned herbs.

katiafish, I know that you mean well, but I don't think that your approach is going to help. If anything, it could cause greater harm by delaying proper treatment.

Not a priest, an exorcist, or burned herbs.

Priests and exorcists are trained to refer people to psychologists before they look into the matter.

Since she thinks that the entity wants to kill her, it's imperative that she get help immediately. It may well save her life.

Most mental wards in hospitals have a screening process before they admit people. It's just a nurse asking a series of questions, and it can do no harm at all for you to take your mom in and try to admit her. In all liklihood they will only keep her for a week, which will be adequate time for both a psychologist and a psychiatrist to evaluate her and give her appropriate treatment in a contained environment.

If you don't get help, it will get worse.

Yes.. Thank you. However, lets just stick to the things that we know, and not to things we assume we know. :)

I have a lot of compassion for you.

Its what I've always suggested, but I'd need the support of my grandperants first, my Grandad might help, but Nan believes her, since she also "saw" these things.

That's unfortunate.

I could say the same to you.

Exactly how were you sticking to "the things that we know" when you suggested that he treat his mother's condition by burning sage?

Incidentally I was just talking today to a man who started channeling spontaneously when he was 21, he is 43 now and only 3 years since he is out of mental hospital where he has been locked by such "kind" relatives. Has he stopped channeling? No.. Has he missed out on a chance to have a normal life and deal with it in his own terms? yeah...

May I suggest a movie for you? The Exorcism of Emily Rose. It gives a good reason why we should use medical science over faith.

I've never heard of ghosts speaking verbally to people before... not that I can think of. So, I would be inclined to lean towards a mental health problem - although it's interesting to read other peoples opinions on this.
