Decided to try my hand at chickens again, since I had to rid myself of my last flock due to the unexpected arrival of my son.

True story....
I once tried raising chicks.
I planted them carefully, with the head sticking down.
They died.
I planted the next batch, with the feet in the ground.
They died too, but not as quickly.
I called the State Agricultural Office, & asked for advice.
They angrily told me...
"You ignorant slobbering Scot!"
"We can't tell you anything without a soil test!"

obviously, several varieties...
We'd get 100 or so every spring. They were so cute, kept warm under lights, and we'd 'snuggle then in our hands. Mom like Leghorns, but I liked Rhode Island Reds. Enjoy the fuzzballs as it won't last long.

Nope. And I had to look that reference up. Stooges are before my time. But a great classic.
It's become a bit of a hobby. I find them fun and personable little birds.

That is a great decision, I hope all goes well. My dream is a house in the country where I would keep chickens and a beehive.
