My problem with atheism

Ok, I must concede that, as a person of science. But I would then ask you why, in an age of science, such as we are in now, why has that belief not wavered or decreased. After all, many of,the things once thought to be supernatural have been explained. Yet, belief in God continues. Why?
Well it has decreased, enormously. In my country 99% used to go to Church, now it is about 3%. Same across much of Europe. Beleif continues because these changes take time.

I suppose that's what one would expect of a scam honed and refined for thousands of years.

Sure can. Australia. It is a beautiful autumn evening here. (The bandicoots are out shhhh)
Nice. That is one of the few areas of the world I have yet to travel to though I have wanted to for quite a while. I even tried to get a UK work visa to be a nurse there but the pay was just too low for me. I bet it's amazing there.

Lots of nurses come here from the UK. Better pay and conditions apparently. Things are very hard for UK nurses. Always had a soft spot for nurses, they are about the only true altruists. If you ever get here I'll buy you a beer and cook you some kangaroo.

Alas, dear friend, my path doesn't include alcohol or meat. But I would love some coffee? And perhaps a true citizen's suggestions for photo opts?

I put it down to a human need for comfort and meaning in a fragile and uncertain existence. A lot of wishful thinking and confirmation bias is involved.
In a lot of cases, you would be correct. But in som cases, it goes beyond wishful thinking. There are people who are incredibly confident in their beliefs.

The God and religions have evolved just as everything on our planet evolves. Religion as it stands today will change drasticly and in fact has over the last 100 years. It is still changing and is often due to social changes, political and financial greed. People are drawn to religion due to the social interaction, certain insecurity they may have about death and life in general as it has been mentioned it is a human condition to cling to the hope of a better life through any means possible, and if they are convinced God is judging their actions and holds the power to influence the future for them including life after death it is a strong magnet, one belief that can become radiclised as we have seen lately.
