My proof that the flood happened!

Ok, stick with me on this, it's just a bit of fun but may actually be true!

My version of the flood and the subsequent impact it had is this:
First, let’s say Carbon Dating etc is wrong.Ok, with that out of the way the things we know are, there was once a people known as Neanderthals who mysteriously died out. It was them and us. We were similar but genetically different to the Neanderthals.
I say the Neanderthals were the people who lived before the flood. The Bible says that people before the flood lived for a very long time. After the flood, people’s ages dropped dramatically. This is because the water canopy which acted as a protection from harmful rays from space! So we died sooner and so we started to change genetically. This explains why homosapiens were/are genetically different to Neanderthals.

We also know that at one time the human race shrunk back to a very small number, possibly around 10.000 or so. How about 8?

Another thing we know is that there was a mass extinction of all the large land mammals in America, Australia and the Far East and that smaller versions of the same mammals somehow survived in Europe/Middle east sort of area. I say this is because Noah couldn't fit the bigger ones on the ark and that they were too far away to get to him in time!

So that’s what I suppose happened. What do you think? Have I hit the nail on the head or am I talking out of my bum?

Great way to begin your proof, first ignore the evidence that does exist, and then just make stuff up and call it “proof”.

Actually I think I am known on this board for my sense of humour, but I have little patience for poes. They are not funny and they are not helpful.

Sorry dude, such is life! And I don't know what a poe is. So that isn't very helpful to me, but I ain't moaning.

It is obvious to even a casual reader that the ancient biblical texts are missing essential information to the context of doctrine and religious concepts provided. It is interesting to me that the book of Genesis was provided anciently by an individual (Moses) that was not a witness to the live events. It is also obvious that Genesis was not intended as a “tell all” description of anything.

It would appear that the modus operandi of G-d is to provide (reveal) necessary concepts to those that listen on an “as need to know” basis. The great question in my mind is not so much as to whether or not G-d spoke to the ancients so much as whether or not G-d speaks to anybody today. If G-d is about anything of importance in relation to man – why isn’t anyone writing it down and why has the Bible – or for that matter the Quran, become a “dead” record of G-d’s activities among man?

He was inspired by God to write of things he didn't witness. God was there and inspired Moses to record history.

Also, as to your other point, the Bible is done for now as it is enough to get on with, although it itself says that in future new scrolls will be opened.

It would be unbelievably difficult and probably impossible to form words from the bum without a bum-tongue. So I vote not-talking-out-of-the-bum.

I vote for talking out of your bum.

talking out of the bum +1

A Cautionary Tale. The reason it is not a good idea to talk out of your bum. Warning, not for the squeamish.

Carbon dating might be wrong but geology doesn't lie.

If there was a global flood of Noah proportions 10,000 - 50,000 years ago we'd know about it.

Interesting concept though, at least you're giving though to the myth instead of blindly accepting it :p

Do the ancient scriptures record this or did you make it up?

I was not aware that there was any indication anciently as to what “books” or versions of said books should constitute the Bible and if it was "done" according to any actual doctrine then where is that doctrine written and from where did the authorization come to translate it? Both of which prove that the Bible was not “done”.

I would be inclined to go with you on that point. Consider too that if the water canopy blocked the radiation it would also have altered the rate of formation of radioactive carbon-14 at that time, which would alter the dating process.
