My Vision Quest Tomorrow or the Next Day...

Druidus

Keeper of the Grove
I'm going on an Immram (vision quest/shamanic journey, but Druid style) tomorrow or the next day. This will involve the use of some salvia divinorum (used in the way the Mazatec Shamans use it). I will be posting the results of this quest for anyone to read if they so wish.

First of all, does anyone have any advice?

Oh dear. I'd hoped you'd forgotten this quest.

You're not still planning to camp out on the tundra till you begin to hallucinate, are you?!

Could you, like, camp out in your room with your parrot and Salvia? Much less chance of dying of exposure or ending up a polar bear's breakfast.

Oooh, please tell me about your experiences with salvia, Druidus! I'm getting some soon and while I've researched a lot about it, I haven't been able to have a Q&A session with someone who's used it.

No advice here sorry, but good luck, have a good trip.
Thanks!

No, that was a foolish idea. I wasn't properly trained to survive on the tundra. I'm doing this in a field, in Prince Edward Island, when the average temperature is 20 degrees Celsius. My next Immram will be done without he aid of salvia, in a forest.

Much less chance of dying of exposure or ending up a polar bear's breakfast.
I know. The only problems I'd have here is a magically oversized jackal or fox, but I doubt the possibility of this. The largest carnivore on this island is the jackal, so no worries.

I most definately will tell you. I'll be using 20X fortified salvia leaves, chewed and held under the tongue (I'm not fond of smoking, damages the lungs and all).

I'm going off on the Immram now. I'll post the results tomorrow.

I suspect that my clan animal is either the bear, the stag, or the raven. It depends on whether it shows itself to me. We shall see.

Druids never used Salvia . Best of luck Druidus , although you know my opinion on this .

BTW I think that you have been chewing that stuff already . Jackals in PEI ? You are more likely to be attacked by a rabid potato ... ;)

Is salvia divinorum healthy for a polar bear to consume? (I'm assuming that this is consumed)

It's held in the mouth, Cynic. :) I'm more worried about him trying to move around after taking it than getting attacked by anything, really...

As am I Jensa . And there is NO need for the drug as far as I'm concerned .

Personally , I would be less bothered by this if Druidus was saying he was just going out to get stoned for the hell of it .

Why's that, kreeden? Salvia has a history of being used for spiritual purposes. Most of the people I've talked to who have taken enough salvia to have strong hallucinations report very spiritual experiences.

Yea , and I know a guy to talked to God while on LSD . God told him that he likes AC/DC ... I have taken hallucinogenics . And I would like to try peyote some time . But I don't trust them as Spiritual guides . And even as such , they have to be used under the right conditions with the guidance of someone who knows what they are doing . This IS NOT a game , and if treated as such will bite you in the butt ... as someone once said .

And I don't think that Druidus is ready for this . But I guess we will find out . :) And I do wish him the best , although I am worried .

Yah true. I had a friend who took a lot of hullicigens such as philosopher stone, and it can be a very unpleasent experience if one is not careful.

Salvia is the only hallucinagen I have ever experienced, and it is one heck of a ride. There is no preparing for it. Fortunately, it was short-lasting. Best of luck Druidus. Try not to be eaten by your own knees.

My friends tend to have much more positive experiences.

Jackals in PEI ?
I've seen them. ;) If nothing else, they are feral dogs that look like jackals.

It's held in the mouth, Cynic.

I've got an aid/babysitter/helper now, so no worries about that.

You are correct.
I have taken hallucinogenics . And I would like to try peyote some time . But I don't trust them as Spiritual guides .
Why is peyote, salvia or any other hallucinogen less able to assist than bear, deer, or raven? I can see no reason.

And I do wish him the best , although I am worried .
I do thank you for the care, but there is no need to worry now. I've got an experienced aid/babysitter/helper.

And don't worry, Kreeden, about the plant colouring the outcome. It probably will, yes, but I'll be doing my next vision quest unaided by hallucinogens, through traditional methods (meditation, fasting, and isolation in conjunction).

My preporatory meditations are complete. Farewell. Failte. Thou art God.

I'm off...
