I believe in dragons as unseen beings. Not as ones of this plane. In many Japanese interpretations, dragons are elemental guardians.
I accept that any number of mythical creatures as you call it might exist on other planes. Sometimes people enter those planes- as in mythological stories. IE: Odysseus goes to Hades. This can happen with some god or spirit's assistance, or through use of psychedelic substances. Normally humans are not able to experience reality at the level I'm describing, as I see it.
Or perhaps sometimes we accidentally see into another realm by some weakening of the veil cloaking the two from one another.
After all, I believe in an Ultimate Reality underlying all things, and being them. The Ultimate isn't experiencing itself as divided. Our senses are misleading us somewhat.
