yes, my faith is my own. it is personal and has been revealed to me. that does not make my faith invalid or weak, or myself confused, a proselytizer, or a self-proclaimed anything. i am a follower of God and His Word, that is all.

Anyone LDS member who has been through the temple knows how ridiculous the above is. There is nothing devient, sexual, or immoral about the temple.

I think anyone who's a member of this forum and has had the honor of meeting any LDSers here would know how ridiculous the above is! (Well, at least anyone that's willing to listen, I should say.)

Dianic Pagans do not all hate men.

Dianic Pagans do not all soley celebrate the feminine aspects of deity.

Okay, I'll add just a couple. Just to make sure we're all on the same page, these are the myths, not the facts, and I promise every one of them is actually believed by somebody!

Mormon women cannot wear make-up.
Mormons are a lot like the Amish.
Mormon women must have thirteen children in order to become a "Saint".
The "Mormon" Church controls the stock in the Coca Cola company.
The "Mormon" Church owns most of Las Vegas.
Mormon weddings last for three hours.
Mormons have communal weddings like the Moonies.
Mormons believe God came down and had sex with Mary.
Mormons believe in "endless celestial sex" in heaven.
Mormons believe that their husbands can prevent them from going to heaven.

UU
-No, not all UUs are Unitarians.
-No, not all UUs are Universalists.
-No, UU is not a Christian denomination, but yes, there are Christian UUs.
-No, UU is not just a place for people with nowhere else to go.
-Yes, UUs do have things they believe in and stand up for.
-No, our Seven Principles are not a creed.

My personal beliefs
-Just because I'm not a Christian doesn't automatically make me an atheist.

:D Yeah, don't you wish! Here is an actual quote:

-Once becoming gods and goddesses, they are required to populate their own planets. Good mormon women/girl's desires to become goddesses and be "eternally pregnant". To be able to look down on the planet and see all the offspring and say, "That's mine. I populated it." Endless celestial sex. This is not talked about openly by mormons...it's "embarrassing" to talk about.

And here is the website: http://www.a-voice.org/discern/mormon.htm

Well someone already did Catholics but here are a few I got asked or assumed because I'm Catholic.

No not all Catholics think they're perfect little angels(assumed because I went to Catholic school)
No we do not worship Saints or the Virgin Mary(i know someone already said it but its the most common myth about catholicism)
Not all of us believe that people are going to hell because they're not Catholic
Not all of us believe we are better than anyone else because we are Catholic
Not all of us hate homosexuals or condemn them
Not all of us hate or condemn Protestants or Mormons or Jehovah's Witnesses or Jews or Muslims(or other religions a few people assumed I hate because i'm Catholic "that's what I'm supposed to do" anyone else get that's what your supposed to do your a whatever crap?)

can't think of anymore.

The idea that the persecution of Gentiles is considered a good deed in the Torah is false as are the various lies told of our Oral Torah.

True Christian
We do not believe that we are supposed to be living in poverty
We do not believe that we are supposed to be sick
We believe that God can dwell in us
We believe that God does not respect people but he respects faith
We believe that God is not a man that he should lie/change his mind
We believe that we are the only ones who can cast out demons
We believe that you can lose your salvation
We believe that we are spirits who have souls and live in a body.

I think my list was just abut covered by the RC posters here (we get accused of pretty much the same nonsense they do). There are just a couple more, though.

No, you don't have to be 'ethnically Orthodox' to be Orthodox - I have no Greek, Russian, Romanian etc. blood in me at all.

No, we aren't just eastern Roman Catholics. There are some of those but they are in communion with Rome and not with us. Our communion has not recognised the Pope of Rome since the 11th century.

And finally, and most importantly, we are not the Orthodox churches, but the Orthodox Church. We are one and the different local churches are merely regional and cultural expressions of the one faith and church. I can, and have, freely move around from one church to another and worship/partake in any of them. The move is analogous to moving from an Irish RC parish to a Polish one, not from an Anglican church to a Baptist one.

Two I forgot earlier (unbelievably given the frequency that the BBC makes these errors and the fact that Pope Benedict is in Turkey at the moment).

The Ecumenical Patriarch (currently Patriarch Bartholomew) is not the head of the Greek Orthodox Church, but of the Patriarchate of Constantinople. The Greek Orthodox Church is a separate local Church that is headed by the Archbishop of Athens, not a Patriarch.

And, and please note this one well because getting this wrong is likel to irritate me far more than bad grammar or spelling, Patriarch Bartholomew is not the 'head of the Orthodox Church', nor the 'spiritual leader of the world's Orthodox Christians', nor whatever other phrase you see bandied around in the press that makes him seem like an Orthodox equivalent to the Pope. He is first among equals only. If we have a Pan-Orthodox council, he has the right to chair it but he has absolutely no authority outside of his own See of Constantinople. As such, he is head only of his own See (and that only as first amongst equals within Constantinople's Holy Synod) and, whilst a centre of unity for all of us, certainly does not comprise a spiritual leader for most of us. 220 million of the 250 million or so Orthodox are under the jurisdiction of two entirely diferent Patriarchs - Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and Patriarch Teoctist of Romania, and I doubt the EP's omophorion even extends over anything like the majority of the remainder.

Are you sure about the goats, Mike? I mean, I've been thinking of converting to Paganism, but if there's no sex with goats, it would be sort of pointless to convert, don't you think?
