But wait. There's more

11. Feed your dog some really good human food that's safe - hamburger to steak is all good.
12. Scratch your dog's belly.
13. Brush your dog.
14. If a dog is running for office where you live (and there are some), campaign for the dog.
15. Tell everyone that your dog is your besty.

The Lesson of National Dog Week
(A Poem for Revoltingest)
Revoltingest sat in his chair with a grin,
Ignoring the week that the dogs called their kin.
No barks of joy, no treats in a row,
Just a man who forgot what all good dogs know.
Then came a tutor, four paws and a tail,
A wise little dog, with a heart that won’t fail.
"Sit down," said the pup, with a stern little glance,
"You’ve missed something great, but here’s your last chance."
“National Dog Week is more than a date,
It’s love in each wag, it’s joy at the gate.
It’s belly rubs, walks, and chasing the ball,
It’s a time to give thanks to the best friends of all.”
Revoltingest blinked, feeling the shame,
Not honoring pups? What a terrible claim!
The dog tilted its head, eyes big and so bright,
“We forgive,” said the pup, “but do better tonight.”
So he fetched the treats, and he called them all near—
The pups of the world, who wagged with great cheer.
Revoltingest learned what he'd nearly let slip:
Love from a dog is the world’s sweetest gift.
Now every year when the dog week arrives,
Revoltingest honors their wagging good lives.
For a dog is a teacher, in patience and grace,
And Revoltingest smiles, now back in their place.

Someone's been busy.

I think National Dog Day is a celebration of the love, loyalty, and companionship that dogs bring into our lives. It's a day to honor all dogs, whether pets, service animals, or rescues, and to raise awareness about adoption and care. Show your furry friend some extra love today!

I don't have a dog. I need one. Can I have yours? If not, that's ok.

Grrr ...

I'll wait.

I should wait anyway. Big responsibility.

I don't like leashes.

Umm, I'm protective. I should use one when I get one. I don't have a dog.

Can I have your dog? Will it work? Does yours have a job? They need a job, ya know.

I had one once. My dog worked with me.

I miss him. He was protective too.

National dog week.
I'm get'n a wee bit peckish.
A birdbrain (peck-ish) like you poops on dogs. There's one three-headed dog that according to myth awaits you:

According to Hesiod, Cerberus was the offspring of the monsters Echidna and Typhon, was fifty-headed, ate raw flesh, and was the "brazen-voiced hound of Hades", who fawns on those that enter the house of Hades, but eats those who try to leave.

Fenrir also awaits his/her meal, set to consume even the sun.

You know what I liked about Ragnar? He agreed with Odin about setting his eye to acquire knowledge. You know what I liked about Rollo? He was a formidable warrior. Sometimes even people could benefit from a leash and a worthy handler. Sometimes we too are in need of restraint.

He stood on four, head held high.
He didn't bother asking about the guy.
There was no hesitation to back the man up.
He had a warrior's heart even as pup.

When I let him know, all was well ...
no problem at all, he just wagged his tail.
He then sat on his butt for the man to see,
how he loved his new job watching over me.
