Hey Cory! I'm new here myself.

Religion can be very confusing. I go to a baptist church, but it's a lot different from the baptist church I went to as a kid. I don't always trust what people say as being "from the bible" either. I always double check them by going to the bible and reading it myself. There are so many things from the bible that are taken out of context. People have interpreted the bible to suit their own wants and needs, but there is only ONE interpretation... God's.

There are so many "feel good" churches around that will only tell you how wonderful you are instead of explaining the Bible. A true preacher/pastor/priest is called by God and will base his sermon on what God has given him.

Anyway, I think you need to do a lot of praying and just ask God to help you to understand. Ask Him to reveal His plan for you, and where you need to go to church. Try different churches, but make sure you bring your bible to follow along. Ask God for wisdom in understanding the bible. If we had the ability to understand the entire bible on our own, then why did Jesus use parables when explaining God's word? He loved you enough to send His son to die for your sins, so He'll answer your questions if you really spend some alone time with Him and listen.

Why the Bible? Why not the Hindu Vedas or the Tao Te Ching or The Lord of the Rings?

Hey...just be yourself sweetie...dont get brain washed..be a good person...I do personally believe if we follow Jesus then we will be just that(a good person)..Honestly? I dont follow that mcuh more of the Bible..I think its impossible to do so...Unless you want to be a hypocrite and a failure for life..

Sorry to be so glum about it but thats how I feel...

Anyway..Its good you are asking questions..Keep doing that..You will find some answers to some and others never...

How do you know what it is to be brainwashed? How do you know that you are not being brainwashed when you read the Bible or listen to somebody tell you how God is, without any evidence or facts to back it up?

I don't understand why we cannot begin our search with the presumptive idea of simply not knowing. Why must we begin with the Bible or the Christian faith? Wouldn't it make sense to begin with the idea that it is all rubbish unless actual evidence and facts come along to trump the validity of what is known?

Your right..I cant define brainwashed for someone else..Nor can I know if Im brainwashed or not because brainwashed people are blind to that fact ..Thats part of the brainwashed affect..

I will say I get a "feeling" sometimes around certain people that they are ..One time I posted a news article..About a teenage boy here that went to my sons school..At lunch break he was racing in his car lost control ..slammed into a telephone pole at 70mph..Was killed instantly...I posted that and asked for prayer for the family..The boy was 17 years old..It was so sad...

One lady got on there and said "heavens..yes I'll pray...do you know if he was SAVED!"

I was like ..you have got to be kidding me..Is that all you can think of..I dont know if he was SAVED...all I know is a 17 year old boy is dead ...DEAD..and its a tradgedy in our local community....His parents are left behind to mourn his death for the rest of thier lives...Saved or otherwise....

I think in my mind..the woman was brain washed..IMHO...

I know God exists because He talks to me. He talks to me because I talk to Him. If Cory will ask God to reveal himself, He will. You don't have to understand the whole bible, or even part of it, to talk to God.

Sorry for the bad quoting technique. I don't pray because I don't believe that God exists, at least any God who would be interested in my prayers.

I know that there are fairies at the bottom of my garden because I talk to them. If you ask them to reveal themselves, they will.

The schizophrenic knows that there are demons because they talk to him.

The Muslim knows that Allah exists because He talks to them.

How is your experience difference from mine, a schizophrenic's or a Muslim's?

btw, What do you mean when you say that God talks to you? Out loud? In words? Or just in your head?
