New Layout!

In a freakish anomaly to the normal order of the universe

I actually like it.

One big reason is the return of the up/down buttons on the side. :)

Don't fix what isn't broken. Focusing on a flashy look to draw in members isn't a path I would take, because this forum has always been unique in its membership and content. Drawing in whoever we can for a premium is going to make the discussions worse.

It actually was broken from our standpoint. ;) This is actually a much more simple style that will allow us to update the site faster in the future.

A large part of web development is adjusting color styles and formatting to comply with what people like to use. Notice the padding on the left and right? That is for mobile use and allows folks on phones to participate. The color scheme? Easier to render on multiple hardware/firmware configurations. In short: I think it is less about being flashy for dollars than it is about making the layout more user friendly for more devices/individuals. :)

Other than that, I'm ok with it

Considering that it previously worked on my phone and is now a disaster...

POSITIVITY! Seems perfectly cool to me, though it was a bit all over the place for a few hours as it went through the changes :p If it works better for the staff...

You are an IT guys worst nightmare. Can you be more specific than it sucks and it's a disaster? I can't fix things I can't see or have information on. Things look fine on my end. I need more information to fix problems you are having.

Oh boy.

- The bar with your Username/Profile, Messages and Alerts is now at the very top, even above the Banner. This is the first time I have ever seen a Forum do that. I am perplexed. The goal couldn't have been to save space because now the Forum is longer.

- The Search is not in the main bar anymore, because that obviously made too much sense.

- Sub-forums are now in pairs next to each other. In which world is that a good idea? Its crowded and again the very first time I have ever seen it.

I don't even know how to describe it. Looks like I'll be choosing between migraines and participation.

It makes sense for mobile users, as it keeps the main navigation bar uncluttered.

It is literally right above it. Sarcasm isn't an attractive quality.

It actually makes the forum home page shorter.

Well enjoy the look you have then if you aren't going to give me actual constructive feedback. ;)

It's something about the colors or lighting. Before ruining it, the mobile site had q nice grey background to counter the text. Now it's this retina scarring black on white. It's like trying to read a Kindle at full brightness with the white background. At the very least it should be an option. The new post section is even worse, with the colored text.

**** looks like the background is still grey. No idea then. Forgive me for not having an advanced medical understanding of the issue, I'll just leave.

Statistics show that more and more of the traffic on the internet is from mobile devices. I can't post long diatribes easily from a phone or tablet but I do find myself posting from both phone and tablet where I used to not do it at all.

There are parts of the changes that I like and some that I don't like. But compared to the abomination that Windows 8/10 inflicted on people, it's hardly worth mentioning.

I'll grumble and mumble and adapt and soon the UI will disappear into the background as I tell people exactly why I'm right and they are wrong (unless they agree with me, of course). ;)
