New member introduction

Hi I just signed up for the forum, I used to be a member some years ago but was not able to get back into my old account, reset the password, or get any word back from the mods/admins so I figured I'd just start from scratch.

A little about me:

- from the northern central US (i.e. cold winters)

- one parent was a Lutheran pastor

- studied philosophy of religion and religious studies at college

- loves reading, owns/operates a book store

- interested in physical cosmology, astrophysics/astronomy and SETI/astrobiology, academic philosophy, sci-fi and fantasy novels, NBA basketball, music (all kinds, but mainly jazz, fusion, prog rock/metal, and hip-hop).

- an atheist who has recently come to strongly sympathize for/identify with the Satanic Temple and other atheistic forms of Satanism involved in political action

- leftists/socialist who believe that all humans have a right to the basic necessities of life and a basic share of human happiness

Looking forward to some hopefully productive and informative conversations, maybe even hoping there's still a familiar face or two lurking about.

What kind of bookstore do you own/operate?

Used books, mainly non-fiction, especially religious/devotional (these tend to have great re-sale value).

Tool, King Crimson, Mars Volta, Animals As Leaders, Polyphia, Plini. Cloudkicker. Unprocessed. Been real into the Omnific lately, basically a wet dream for any bass player (the band is just two bass players and a drummer that looks freakily like Danny McBride). Does KNOWER count as prog? Been getting really into them recently as well.

And I probably tend more towards the fusion end of the prog spectrum than the rock end, so I also listen to lots of e.g. Mahavishnu, Return to Forever, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Marcus Miller, etc

How about yourself? Any particular favorites?
