Absolutely. But I don't blame religion alltogether for it. I think it's part of human nature to defend their identity and way of life. People become violent when they feel threatened in some way. If it wasn't religion it owuld be something else, and often is. But I do agree that certain religions can encourage intolerance of others.
Although I agree with you in part. Religion does incourage ignorance and narrow mindedness(not all of course, just most of them). By doing so it creates the atmosphere for people to defend there beliefs so harshly due to the fact that their religion tells them that everyone else is wrong and either should be converted or purged so not to taint or midguide you. Just a thought. Oh course the typical response to such a statement will lead to the different groups claiming that there religion does not do this, but anyone who can read can see the contrary.:sorry1:
