Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?
No.

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?
No.

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?
Well... First of all, for the first question, I don't believe in souls at all, so once you're dead, there is nothing left to be reborn or go to any heaven or hell. I think that once you die, your body decomposes and that is the end of your life and conciousness. Your brain is what allows you to be aware of things, and if you are dead, your brain isn't functioning, so that's the end for you.

And for the second question, I don't even believe in destiny at all. I don't think anyone has any purpose. I think we are all just another unfortunate life-form which happened to come into existence somehow. I don't think any higher power controls anything. I think people just go through their lives, doing things that will not matter in the long run, and then they reproduce(sometimes) and then they die, and their offspring do the same thing. It's just a long cycle of being born, living, reproducing, and dying. None of it matters, and there is no higher power looking over anyone or anything.

But I think it would be cool if there was some sort of meaningful plan and that I'd get to be born over and over again. I don't think there is such a plan... but it's a nice idea. I don't understand people who think souls get re-born... Are there new souls created? Because there sure are a lot more humans on the earth now than there used to be... Where did all of those souls come from??

Anyway, I know it's a depressing lot of beliefs, but I think it makes perfect sense. No one wants to believe their life is meaningless and that they'll never see their dead family and friends ever again, but that's just the way it is, I think.

Welcome aboard

Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?

yes, And I feel that the after life is very much like our current life, the only difference being that our soul is no longer attached to a physical body and as such as the ability to travel anywhere it wishes including off of earth into the rest of the universe. As for what it would be like it would be pretty much what you make of it, much like it is here.

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

No. I neither believe that there is anything that is "higher" than anything else nor do I believe that anyone can control you unless you choose to let them control you and I choose to NOT be controlled.

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?

Well I only answered no to one of them but if you want a more detailed explanation I'll be happy to provide it.

Friend srad,

Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?

Life is one continuous affair.
So, in that sense there is nothing before and after, we are part of IT.

Yes, only our karma is the deciding factor and we are in circumstances guided by that karma; thereafter or responses to the circumstances again takes us further.

Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?

Union with God (whether I like it or not).

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

Yes and no. I make my own free choices, but I am not wholly free. I believe in God, so if there is a God, and He controls the world of nature, upholds it, etc., then He has a good deal of control over my life. I believe in spiritual powers that can jack with my head. I believe my fellow man can insert thoughts and opinions into my head. Any number of things can limit my choices.

So, yes, I couldn't bring myself to deny that there is a higher being in control of my destiny. In fact, I believe that there are several beings who exert considerable influence on it.

Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?

Absolutely. I believe in the Spiritworld and the outer realms / spiritual planes.

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

That's a hard one. I believe that there is a higher being in control of my destiny if I want to perceive one... I can believe in Spirit (God), or many Gods and Goddesses for all different reasons. The beauty of Spirit is you discover it can be one, two or 6 billion and more. Spirit (God) can be the Universe and all within it, the outer realms / Spiritual planes, a force of energy penetrating everything and anything that ever existed and will ever exist, or it can be a seperate God that lives elsewhere. There is no correct answer in my beliefs because Spirit is absolutely everything :)

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?

n/a :)

Here are a couple of questions that I would like to get an opinion on:

Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, what?

Yes, I believe that our souls are eternal. I believe that God's grace is inscrutable. I will not pass judgment on others' souls, but I am responsible for my own actions in the context of my beliefs. I believe that in order for me to live my eternal life in the presence of God, that I must accept responsibility for my sins, actions and decisions, accept the unmerited grace of Jesus Christ, and submit my will and heart to Him.

Do you think there is a higher being in control of your destiny?

Abso-damn-lutely.

If your answer is no to both questions, then what are your reasons?

My answers are both yes so I'm off the hook!

Back again, although a little later than I'd hoped, but here's an expansion on my previous answer.

Is there an afterlife? yes, as far as I'm concerned, there is life after life.

Whether you believe it's simply your body breaking down and fertilising the earth and then becoming a part of the grass, the trees, the animals that eat these, continuing the circle of life, that in a sense is life after life after life.

I believe we never die, we simply change form - though for me it goes beyond changing into grass trees and cows.

personally, I feel there's an eternal part of each of us that isn't detectable by any means currently available to scientists. But I believe that for each of us, this part leaves it's vehicle and gets a new one, over and over again, until it's destination is reached.

Is there a higher being in control of my destiny?
Yes and no.

No, in the sense that I am free to choose whatever I want, whoever I like to be, without some influence from a higher being in the form of reward and/or punishment

What I DO feel though, is that each of us, just before entering the physical realm, we select who our parents will be, what circumstances we will be born in and perhaps some key people and key events that occur on the way. Is our soul a "higher power" - to some of us - yes, it is THE higher power, to some it's A higher power, to some it's a bunch of nonsense. Anyone could conceivably be correct. But my destiny is not shaped by these pre-birth choices. My destiny is shaped by the choices I make while experiencing these events, as to who I want to be in relation to them. My destiny is decided by my actions, thoughts, words, as a creation or reaction to the situations, having of course forgotten somewhere between pre-birth and birth that I have made these choices before.

Hope that may be what you're looking for. Please do ask for clarification if need be.
