Now, are you going to give us a weather report? I'm worried about you.

So, what you're saying is you're going to pull out just the part you want to hear, and ignore the rest, so that I have to correct you on this yet again in another thread? That's too bad. I had hope to finally get through to you.

Debatable? How? Why do you attempt to compromise to get Republican votes when you do not need those Republican votes?

At the time of the health care bill, Democrats had a majority in the House, a super majority in the Senate and a Democratic President. :sorry1:

Hey, I said it was debatable, I didn`t say it was a winner!
:)

I actually agree with you Rick.
There was no reason to compromise and in fact this compromise was my first best clue as to why Obama could`t govern himself out of a wet paper bag.

I agree with this as well. I think the dems folded under the pressure of lobbyists and PR and had to gut their own legislation just to keep their own on board, never mind republicans.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
That's one of the worst and most inaccurate analogies I've ever heard. Good work!

That's one of the most unsubstantiated statements I've ever read. Bad form!

And I've substantiated my argument comparing the challenges of healthcare in the US vs Scandinavian countries numerous times on this forum, so I'm not inclined to do so again. I get bored repeating myself after awhile.

Kathryn, I actually have hope for our Liberal friends. Finally after two years (almost) of Obama leadership, they are taking responsibility for their party and the decisions the Democrats made.

To me, it is almost a breath of fresh air to see something that is not George W. Bush's fault.

The Liberals have left the denial stage and have moved to the anger phase. This is progress indeed.

Perhaps I can get these folks past the anger phase now without taking two years to do it.

OK, Obama got elected because people where upset with GWB.

The Republicans got elected in the midterms because they where upset with Pelosi and company.

The Republican party was doomed and pulled a phoenix move by promising to do much better.

If the Republicans fail to act fiscally by reducing the budget and refraining from ear marks, I'M READY TO WALK AWAY FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY MYSELF.

People, can we come together and realise that raising taxes alone is not going to fix our countries problems?

The cold hard facts are, if we do not stop spending so much money on our own initiative, we will BE FORCED TO QUIT SPENDING WHEN THE INTEREST ON OUR DEBTS REACHES THE GDP.

One way or the other, IT WILL STOP.

We can no longer afford to be the worlds only superpower fighting wars for decades.

We can not go for years without working expecting to keep everything we used to pay for in the past.

Even if we cut spending and raise taxes, that will not be the only sacrifices the American people are going to have to make to get our fiscal house in order.

Entitlements are going to be the cancer that eats our countries very fabric that hold us all together.

When the bottom of the economy falls beneath our very feet, there will no longer be rich and poor issues in this country. When the dollar is worth nothing, it will no longer matter how many dollars you hold.

I agree with much of what you're saying, with just a few differences between us, the main one being that I "left" the Republican Party twenty years ago. I have very little confidence in "professional politicians," regardless of their professed party.

You're right - I shouldn't get so frustrated, especially now that the liberal door is slightly ajar, and one or two of them may peek through the crack to see what's on the other side. I hadn't really thought about this being an opportunity to find some common ground, but you're right - not only is this an opportunity, it's a desperately NEEDED opportunity, and it's a shame to waste it.

Then here's a novel idea: maybe listen for a change, instead of just saying the same thing over and over again. That way you can learn why your analog is so stupid, and I don't have to keep explaining it to you in different threads. Don't worry, though; I won't hold my breath for that happening.

I do listen - I just eventually tune out people like you who insist on insulting and being sarcastic. I don't recall ever personally insulting you, and yet you constantly degrade the conversation by your personal insults.

This makes me think that you are not much interested in actually listening yourself, or trying to understand another's perspective, or (gasp) LEARNING anything. You seem more interested in "winning" an argument with "clever" retorts.

You're right not to hold your breath, because I stopped taking your posts seriously a long time ago.

In fact, I just made up my mind. I am not even going to respond to your posts anymore, mball.

That should bring some relief to both of us, and certainly to our fellow RF members, who probably don't gain much from our posts when we direct them at each other.

I don't put people on ignore, and I don't report fellow RF members to the staff - and I don't have to do either in order to rid myself of your incessant sarcasm. I'll just skip over your posts in the future.

This time, this thread is going to stay closed. IF we can't debate this in a civil manner, it's not worth our debating it.
