Hi I'm Shiro and I am an atheistic Jain.
My religious evolution started well before my teen years when I became interested in Wicca at age eleven, I had been traditionally raised in an ultra-conservative christian household. From there, I've dabbled with everything from Norse reconstructionism and other reconstructionist religions to Zoroastrianism, to the Occult and Thelma and Eastern Dharmic religions Hinduism and Buddhism, before becoming a atheist following the philosophy of Jainism.

I am currently reading the Uttaradhyayana Sutra and the Sutrakritanga Sutra (of the Jain Sutras). I am not 100% sure I would consider Jains as "atheists". I suppose you could be an atheist AND a Jain, but that is true that some Hindus are as well. But to truly be a Jain, really it is to give up a LOT of attachment... seriously.

Curious - let us start with the very "basics"... are you 100 vegetarian? One of my relatives is a Jain - he is very, very strict vegan. And his profession cannot involve any killing of life or animal. As with most Vaishya Jains, so his job is restricted to only diamond merchant to stock broker (not all stocks, this is also restricted) and such. Would you be such?

I encourage you to be, no doubt, but just curious what you mean by saying you are a Jain. I am not (I am Hindu), but I do go to a Jain temple often. Which do you, do you? Curious.
