I discovered a newcomer to Hinduism forum, set up primarily as a guest/host connecting place. For those people who would wish a tour or introduction to a Hindu temple, they can sign up, as can people willing to host. Then through the forum, it''' match people by city. Not sure how it will go, but I already signed up as a host for my city.

It's a good idea to have a site where new Hindus or those interested in Hinduism can link up with a "host" who can escort them to a Temple.

But I am a bit confused, where does this website forum explain that this is the purpose viz to link up aspiring Hindus with a "guide" or linked voluntarily a person who acts as a Panda, an "official" guide into sanctums or Panda pilgrim guide or escort who is already a known Hindu or such including Brahmin or even Pujari but can also be layperson, sometimes able to be a guide to Hindu temples or pilgrimages or sites of MANY DIFFERENT sects or like a Muslim Mutawwif which is also a religious guide such as to Mecca and sites... and can also explain general perspectives even for MULTIPLE SECTS without projecting bias to one sect or another ie Panda or Prabhu or as a Hanuman and such.

As I said, not a bad idea but I do not see where this forum makes this clear.... ?

The only post is one new member and you Vinayaka. Where is the purpose explained?

I often act as a guide for friends of relatives from other countries, to many different sects of Hindu Temples Saiva, Vaishnav, Gaudiya, Vedic, Shakta, general Community, Sai, Kundalini, Hare Krishna, etc., as well as Jain, Sikh, Buddhist, I will and do take people as an unbiased guide North or South, East or West. I enjoy this, but only like being a guide, Panda, Prabhu, never ever a preacher, just a generalist, but I also need to WATCH OUT because some want to "latch onto you" or are ghosts from adventures past who want to "find you" to relive past happy times and Hindu adventures. So I am always very careful about allowing others to find me because they are out there and are relentless sort of. How would a level of Anonymity be maintained? Some are no brainers, one of the parents from India who is a parent of a Hindu girl from Kolkata that is my daughters friend contacted us yesterday via I'M video and I will be a guide in the near future to temples here. I would want to see (I can tell instantly by simply a minute of seeing) the person or persons before I would "take them". For example, what did you give out as personal info, how is the contact first made, since you "already signed up" to be a guide?

I can go to ANY TEMPLE and be a good guide or escort.

One other thought, in India many Pandas are PAID for their service.

That is a nice beginning, Vinayaka. I can only add to discussions. But most importantly, the forum needs a change in color scheme. I can hardly read it at Religious Forums. New Hindu is even more difficult for my eyes. The rods and cones in my eye are not strong now. Please make it easier on old eyes.

You're right, now that I look back. I got that from where I heard about this new forum. It's what that person said. So I had it in my mind. Clearly there is some work to do if that was the intent. Hopefully it can evolve into something useful, and not just die the internet death. Time will tell.
