I agree. But it would be much easier to prosecute such crimes with a law specifically targeting these atrocities.

I volunteer as the punisher then.

In the US and elsewhere, I would like to see "Honor Killings" and "Honor Beatings" to be made punishable under criminal penalty-enhancement laws, much like hate crimes.

I'm sure there are legal and constitutional obstacles to any punishment I would actually think appropriate.

They are regularly convicted of murder in the UK.
Even forced marriages are prosecuted. even when the marriage is carried out in a foreign country.
So far there has been no need for new laws.

A forced Marrige can be tried for rape, false imprisonment, even slavery. It is a serious matter.
