The hardware in that machine is about, I don't know, 10 years old? And all it really had in the beginning was new controls. Now those controls are no longer new and about every person I know with a wii, including myself, hasn't touched the thing in months.. Ebay must be stuffed with wii's..

Is it a recessionthing? Or are people still interrested in those controls?
Or is it really that de group up to 12 years old has a larger gamingcommunity nowadays than 12 years and above?

I personally know of a few people who bought the Wii pretty much for the Wii Fit, either for themselves or for an older relative. I think that has been a pretty big draw towards the console too. I don't think it can be a recession thing, as you can get an Xbox (albeit the basic model) for cheaper, which is in theory superior.

In terms of its overall success, I am also surprised it is still doing as well as it is, as the run of good quality games has been (in my view) quite slim. I find I am simply replaying some of my old games instead of trying out the new releases. Still, as someone who is a hopeless Nintendo fanboy, I must say I am happy for their success, and have high hopes that they will be able to invest more heavily in the next generation of consoles to be at a similar hardware standard to Sony and Microsoft.

I know of one person who bought wii fit. (say Cardero, did you and the ms still get one?) and he used it for about a full week. His girl lasted a few days longer. But that's it. It seems like everything Nintendo sells nowadays is worth something for only a short amount of time.

I don't know about you there in England, America, the rest (Yes people, you are reduced to "the rest"..) but Nintendo is very bad at advertising as well. We still see commercials on tv here about braintraining and wii sports..

I know Nintendo did tours of the UK showcasing the Wii Fit, but the TV stuff here is largely the DS's brain training too.

One thing I did think was pretty nifty was that where I am, the NHS started a pledge for the city to lose 1,000,000 pounds in weight, and they held a few events where you could register and pledge to lose x pounds of weight. Nintendo seemed to be working in conjunction with that to advertise the Wii Fit, though I don;t think they were officially sponsoring the pledge or anything like that.

Personally I still use the Wii Fit to track my weight, though it has been a while since I played on it properly. This is largely because I have lost 2 stone (not much to do with the wii fit, but it helped) and so I am at a happy weight now. Maybe shave off a couple more pounds.

Yup. Yup. Yup. Mrscardero had to have that Wii Fit. She called GameStop everyday. She hijacked the UPS trucks at gunpoint. Visited all of the Walmarts, Target’s, K-Marts, Sam’s Clubs for 3 weeks looking for a Wii Fit. Finally got one, opened it up, she never used it (never even stood upon it), it sits in between the stereo and the TV.

I still use the Wii and there are still some hidden gems (that last game Wiki and Zak was a sleeper hit). 2009 is supposed to be a good year for Nintendo. GameInformer magazine had many previews of some Nintendo games. We’ll see what happens.

I'm on mine nearly every day. The Fit is awesome! Tiger Woods PGA will never get old. Since last September I have lost about 65 pounds and then I got the Wii and started working out with the Fit, which got me to finally use my Total Home Gym that has been collecting dust and now that the weather has broken I'm riding 7.5 miles every morning to boot.

The Wii got me off the couch. :clap

i think most people bought the wii fro exercise to keep them in shape and also people i think are buying bc it cost to much to go to movies or dinner bc prices are so far up and one time dish out of moneyu think they will save them in the long run
