No Country for Illegal Immigrants

Naturalist_Atheist

Uh.... Pootie Tang.
i know. there should never be too much 'south american' blood in our midst.:tsk:

Don't label me as prejudice when you don't even know me. I am arguing to accept an equal amount of people from all nations. Not simply allow the closest poor neighbors to come in. I have nothing against South Americans. I want them to have the same opportunity for citizenship as africans, euros, and asians.

What guidlines are you talking about in this quote? The guidlines for citizenship? It sure sounds like it. It sounds like you're saying ignore the legal process currently in place and get here however you can.
The immigration guidelines in place as a result of the Patriot Act is what I'm talking about. I've mentioned it a quite a few times: Things such as 8/10 years for processing is bogus in my opinion. I never once in this thread advocated the borderless free-for-all nonsense that you've been accusing me of. If you had read carefully earlier in the thread, I'm all for border guidelines:

I believe a process should stay in place and individuals should follow these procedures.

I believe so too. I just don't believe it should be as ludicrous as it is, currently.

And no, you have not mentioned South America. I never said you did. I said your reasoning would benefit the South Americans over other parts of the world.
How "South Americans" even made it's way into the conversation what I'm still waiting to find out......seeing as the only country I've mentioned was Mexico, and yet here you are accusing me being only for "South American" immigrants when the two places aren't even related nor are the even on the same continent. :sarcastic

I get it though. You think insulting me will prove your points. By all means, continue.
You're insulting yourself. If you don't like people calling you out on intellectualy dishonest accusations, don't make them.

Immigration in the U.S. needs to be more friendly to poorer countries: The fees are way to much and the amount of time it takes for your paperwork to be processed is beyond ridiculous. If you improve just those two things, you'll see the number of illegal immigrants drop significantly.

I know exactly what you mean!! Not just to poorer countries either. When my wife and I tried to go through the proper channels and get her immigration from the UK to the US, not only did it take eons for paperwork to get through, they DOUBLE CHARGED us for the application and threatened to garnish my wages if we didn't pay!!!!! Crooks!!!!

I feel your pain Not Bob: I had an ex-girlfriend (whom I was very much in love with at the time) that I met here in the US and had to go back to South Africa where she was from. She ended up not coming back here because the fees were too much. I hope all turns out well for you and your wife. )(

The Devil's Advocate
This thread reminds me of why I take long vacations from RF. A bunch of people complaining about how people "shouldn't break the law" when they have no idea what life is like for people who are in this country illegally or the many ways in which our own country has exploited our southern neighbors and ruined their economies, thus creating the immense pressure for people to come here "illegally."

I'm curious as to what you all have to say concerning America's illegal immigration crisis. Do you feel there is a crisis? Do you feel illegal immigrantation even causes a problem or do they help our country? How did we get into this situation? What steps, if any, would you take to correct the mess we find ourselves in now. Deportation, Amnesty, or something different?

I have strong views on this topic
Most people do. They tend to agree that they will be made poorer if poorer people are let in just because they want to make a life in what they perceive to be a country offering superior opportunities.

That is a pretty stupid outlook.

Friend NA,
Once a zen monk had to be the judge of the local court due to some reason.
The case he had to settle involved a thief who stole from a rich landlords house.
The judge [zen monk] after hearing both the sides awarded punishment to the landlord stating that if he did not horde that much wealth the thief would not have gone there to steal in the first place.

Similarly, it is natural that US will have such problems because it is wealthy.
Whatever steps one may take to safeguard nature has its own way of balancing things out.

I dont see how people who come here illegaly are actually being given rights. How are there people that want to protect these illegal immigrants. What they have done is against the law, thats it end of story. Deport them and move on. I didn't know it was so easy to do something illegal in the US and get away with it.

The problem of illegal immigration is they represent more people than we wanted to move into the US.

They should be forcibly removed, not given a legal immigration status...we didn't want them when they came illegally why would we want them legally? WE DON'T WANT THEM AT ALL!

the problem with growing populations is that the birth rate is not controlled. Abortions should be mandatory and illegal babies should have no rights... Anyway:

I have strong views on this topic, but I would like to hold out a little longer, listen to some of your responses and then I will chime in when we have more company. :beach:

Sure there is a country for illegals. It's called their own country. It absolutely mystifies me why America is expected to throw her arms open and maintain absolute open borders? Mexico's immigration policy is more strictly enforced than ours. Why? Do you think Americans can just immigrate at will to Canada? No.

The conditions that illegals end up living under here is akin to modern day slavery.
