You can continue with your sandwich.
I mean that if you want to argue that the Bible isn't the hodge-podge of many different authors' ideas that it appears to be, you're welcome to make your case. Just be prepared to back it up.

In the beginning and in the ending, there is no slavery, no poverty, no sickness and perfect union.
In the middle we have Jesus who said "I have made Your Name known to them
and revealed Your
character and Your very Self, and I will continue to make [You] known, that the love which You have bestowed upon Me may be in them [felt in their hearts] and that I [Myself] may be in them." AMP
He went about doing good and healing everybody. The only people he had problems with were the religious people who had misinterpreted and misrepresented God (it still goes on today -- admittedly).
Whereas some Christians today would say "You are evil doing wrong" - he went and ate with them.
Whereas some Christians today would say "You are not good enough" - Jesus accepted the prostitutes, the lepers and the lost.
So, since Jesus perfectly revealed the character of God, I view everything through the lens of love.
It's this type of love that cause the Moravians to sell themselves into slavery to reach slaves. It is this type of love that causes a member of a violent motorcycle to turn around and reach the native Indians of Iowa. And so much more.
We just interpret things differently.
