Non Creationists who still use theism

There is not really a lot of room for complexity in the so-called controversy between Creationism and Evolution. Just passion subbing for it.

I've noticed some non-creationists still use religious themes/characters in their "religion" ....doesn't make sense to me....if we're trying to get away from all the theological stuff, why use religious terms/deities/ideas??

What's the point??
Does it make sense to then also tell other religious people that their religions are false?
Evolution, religion and theism are not at odds with each other. I don't understand your question based on this.

Isn't it rather the opposite? That so-called "Creationism" makes a point of avoiding science due to a perceived conflict?

There is inherently no contradiction in being a theist without engaging in the silliness that is "Creationism". In fact, Theistic religion needs exactly those people if it is to survive.

Or maybe you are talking about some other group of people?

I tried to give you a Fruby for this - and it wouldn't let me. It did this yesterday with someone else as well. :(

Perhaps as "staff" you know what has gone wrong?

You can not give frubals to the same people twice without fruballing someone else in the meantime.

IIRC, it takes five other people between attempts.

Well actually from two days I had the same idea, but the opposite way.

I asked myself the opposite question

Five?

That causes people to give undeserved frubals, - so they can get back to giving more to deserving people.

Why isn't it just two?

Yes, that's part of the issue as well/

But for me it made sense that a person would believe in God.

According to human nature, when a child is born, he believes that there is one and only one God.

So if it were creationism vs theism. It is theism because that is how we are born.

I think there is some confirmation bias going on here, (not with you, in general), because I don't think there is generally this 'rational' approach taking place in the arguments...

Define non-creationists or, perhaps better, non-creationism, so that I can better get a handle on what you are saying, apparently, about non-creationists trying get away from the theological stuff and exactly what you are referring to about non-creationists' "religion".

When a child is born he doesn't believe in ANY God.

There is no logical reason to believe - if left alone - as he ponders and considers, - that he won't come up with multiple gods, - or no God at all.

I think this was meant for my immediately preceding post or I'm just getting paranoid in my old age. :D

Between us let's just say conventional Creationism is just silly. Evolution beliefs can range from atheistic to theistic to nature-spirits or whatever. That's were the complexity of beliefs comes in. I don't see it as 'passion' but different beliefs.
