North Korea says UN sanctions an act of war

Well the UN hasn't.
FYI @Jumi there was never a formalization of peace between North Korea and the UN, there is only an armistices which is only a cease-fire which means the Korean War is not over. Therefore your statement "Well the UN hasn't" is false.

I spent Christmas Eve with my partner's family. The party was hosted by my favorites of all his family, his niece and her husband Andrew.

Andrew is career military, E8 Army. I love partying with him because he is about as different from me as it's possible for a white dude from the USA to be. He is a solid Trump supporter, as a frame of reference for how different we are. We both like that in a buddy, so we spent most of the evening in his garage drinking beers and hiding out from the wimmins and their festive ways:) .

He is confident of, and gearing up for, a war in North Korea. Not a bunch of bluster or drones, a real boots on the ground war. He did a couple of tours in Afghanistan and three in Iraq, urban warfare against insurgencies. He was extremely successful at that. And he expects to be in North Korea in the foreseeable future.
He is not happy about it, but it is what he believes is on it's way as we speak.

Merry Christmas!

You don't have to go back that far.
President Bush put North Korea on a hit list of 3 countries, then started invading them.
That was 2001.
Tom
Last time I checked the only time the US went into North Korea was the 1950's time-frame.

What does that have to do with the current situation?
The USA government leveled an existential threat against the North Korean government, as well as the Iraqi government. Then they invaded Iraq and destroyed it. They publicly executed the leader after killing his sons.

You think the Kims are unaware of this? You think that they are as uninformed as the typical USA voter? You think that they believe whatever crap Fox News is selling?
I don't.

What does my answer to your above first post? Well let see, you did say, and I quote,
"President Bush put North Korea on a hit list of 3 countries, then started invading them."

Suggest you read what you wrote. From my English classes, which I wasn't a very good student", your statement can be read as "President Bush put North Korea on a hit list, then started invading them".

Because that's what happened.
Bush made a list of the "Axis of Evil", Iraq and North Korea and Iran. Then he started invading, beginning with Iraq.
What is hard to understand about that?

If a guy pointed a gun at you and two other people, said "I'm gonna shoot you!", then shot and killed the guy next to you, would you wait around to make absolutely sure he intended to kill you as well before you pulled out your own weapon? Or would you pull your own gun and start shooting back?
Immediately.

There have been extended naval engagements since then and many deaths; not our ships, but they know we created the modern military might of South Korea just as surely as you know theirs was the creation of China.

What is Bush's excuse for ignoring the North Korean nuclear threat when he knew it existed(barely) and invading Iraq, which clearly had no such threat?

N. Korea joins the rest of them SO WHAT!!

It is a defensive weapon so get used to it

According to a new report from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), nine nations — the United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France, China, India, Pakistan, Israel and North Korea — possess approximately 16,300 nuclear weapons.Jun 17, 2014

btw-- out of all the above, Israel is the only one that did not develop the bomb, the US just gave them one or was it two or three?
