Cookies made with cookie cutters all turn out the same. On the other hand, apple fritters all turn out a little differently. In the natural world snowflakes are all different. Every human being, made in the image of God according to the biblical scriptures, is unique.
I get the impression that God loves variety, not only in regard to creation, but it how He uniquely deals with each person.
One interesting example is the account of Joseph in the OT revealing that Joseph was hated, mistreated, and sold into slavery by his brothers. Then he was falsely accused of adultery and thrown into an Egyptian prison for years. It appeared to be a hopeless situation…yet Joseph continued to trust God.
Surprisingly, God brought him out of prison, made him second in command of all Egypt and then brought his brothers to him, to save their lives from starvation. They were not only surprised when they found out who he was but they were greatly afraid for their very lives over what they had done to him.
Throughout history and in our own personal lives, God often doesn’t act like we want Him to or do what we think He should do. He does not seem to be a God we can put in a box or in a bottle like a genie who will follow our commands or grant our desires. Could it be that the Creator has a different, better, and bigger plan based on His wisdom and purpose, beyond our limited understanding? I think God desires that we trust Him and seek to know what He is doing and wants to accomplish in our lives.
Do you or don’t you trust God?
