Now I had to put my awesome cat to sleep today.

If I weren't already depressed, I took my cat in for a URI recheck, and found she had lung cancer. Also I realized while I was at the vet that last night she threw a clot and her back legs were paralyzed. I have never loved an animal like this cat. She was like a dog. She was my shadow. I was not ready for that. She was only 14. Help cheer me up please!

Sorry, I know how hard that can be.

I had to do the same this summer. Let me give this a shot:

I lost two of my cats this year. Sweetie was only 7 years and 3 months and had an intestinal problem that couldn't be fixed or cured. She was pretty lively until her last two days. It's a helpless feeling not being able to do anything for them.

An ex-girlfriend used to go to shelers and adopt the oldest cat they had. She dealt with a lot of loss as they cats only lived a handful of years. But I liked that she did this for them, so they had a loving environment for their final years.

All you need is love.

I'm sorry to hear about your kitties. I had my previous one put to sleep 6 months ago. It is very helpless. Kudos to your ex. So bittersweet.

Sorry for your loss @Sand Dancer.

It's amazing how such little creatures can leave such a big space when they're gone.
Yes, and she will leave an enormous one, as she was larger than life. My son said she was the only personality at our house...and maybe he is right. She was always interested in what we were doing. She greeted me at the door like a dog. So different from any previous cats.

As I said we lost a cat too. But now a stray has adopted us. He is a gorgeous male Siamese cat with a shortened tail. I cannot tell if it was cut off by previous owners or lost in a fight. At first he seemed totally feral. But he was always coming around looking hungry. I started to leave food out for him. Eventually he let us pet him.. And now he comes in the house to tell us that it is time to feed him. He still prefers dining al fresco.

I've lost a few cats over the years, they become much loved family members. I'm so sorry for your loss and may your cat rest in peace. Consider that she had a great life with you and may that bring you comfort.

I once had to put a puss-cat down

He was a lovely little man and I will never forget him

He was called Horace

I have only pleasant memories of him and those will stay with me forever

He was a good good boy
