Elon Musk is offering Pennsylvanians money to sign a petition and for referrals! Unfortunately, I'm not a Pennsylvanian.

Here's the proof: https://petition.theamericapac.org/

It's to support the 1st and 2nd Amendments; personally I think it ought to be to support the entire Bill of Rights, the rest of the amendments, and the entire US Constitution in general.

For those who don't know what the 1st and 2nd Amendments are, they protect freedom from religion (that's what the 1st of 6 clauses in the 1st Amendment does), freedom of religion (2nd clause), freedom of speech (3rd clause), freedom of the press (4th clause), the right to peaceably assemble (5th clause), petition the government", and the right to keep and bear arms (2nd Amendment).

These rights as well as many rights in the other 8 Amendments of the Bill of Rights, the rest of the amendments, and the entire US Constitution in general.

Elon Musk’s daily $1 million giveaway to registered voters could be illegal, experts say

In an interview Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said Musk’s giveaway was “deeply concerning” and is “something that law enforcement could take a look at.” Shapiro, a Democrat, was previously the state attorney general.
Federal law makes it a crime for anyone who “pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting.” It’s punishable by up to five years in prison.
“When you start limiting prizes or giveaways to only registered voters or only people who have voted, that’s where bribery concerns arise,” said Derek Muller, an election law expert who teaches at Notre Dame Law School. “By limiting a giveaway only to registered voters, it looks like you’re giving cash for voter registration.”
Offering money to people who were already registered before the cash prize was announced could violate federal law, Muller said, but the offer also “can include people who are not yet registered,” and the potential “inducements for new registrations is far more problematic.”

And ham sammiches can be indicted.

I don't know; maybe it's not about a petition. Look what it's for, supporting something we already have - oh wait!
The fact that he chooses to resort to outright bribery to try and protect his new 'empire of lies' tells us all we need to know.

Hmm, I live in PA. I think I should take his $100 and donate it...

edit: just signed it. I doubt he will actually give me the money, but if he does I will give it to @Saint Frankenstein

Vote Blue to stop the madness. MAGA will be finished once they lose the election.
Mostly I agree. But the bubbling, mindless resentment will remain even after Trump is gone. Even the MAGAs know they're being screwed, they rust don't see who is really doing the screwing. Or that they are complicit in it. And FOX will still be there feeding them whatever scapegoats our corporate masters want fed to the idiot masses, and many of us will still be taking that bait hook, line, and sinker.

I'd be very careful about giving contact info to Musk and MAGAs. They aren't ethical people, and exploiting greed is how they are playing the gullible.

Definitely a read the fine print scam to see what sort of junk mail, harassment you are signing up for.
We can’t underestimate the potential actions by MAGAs if they attain power. Would anyone be surprised if there was an effort to collect names of anyone who criticized Trump and MAGA? Imagine if they asked MAGA citizens to enter names. Would any of RF MAGAs think twice about turning in the majority of members? They don’t have our actual names but how hard would it be for a corrupt government to gain access to the private data of RF? If we critics of MAGA feel comfortable if we got letters that we are being investigated?

Trump and many of his crazy colleagues like Stephen Miler are the types who will get retribution. Do they say anything that gives us reason to trust them? Our Canadian members are safe. @It Aint Necessarily So is safe in Mexico. Those of us in the USA? Will it be like Russia and any protest leads to arrest and intimidation?

There may be some merit to those concerns. I can't say. I know I thought about it back before I expatriated when Bush II was president, and I had been quite outspoken and critical of where America was and was headed (surprised?) on a now defunct message board.

Why should anybody live in fear even if most citizens would be of little interest to them and it might be difficult to round them all up anyway. Americans aren't used to living like that.

More than ever, expatriation seems like it was a good choice. Mexico frightens a lot of Americans - most of our families have never visited after fifteen years and still think we're in more danger than they are - but our life here has been safe, and because it's an expat community, it's been rich with social opportunities (my wife and a girlfriend are practicing ukulele now on the terrace), the products you're used to buying are available to cater to the expat community through local vendors as well as Amazon, and Spanish isn't necessary.

We also enjoy great weather a mile up in the mountains on a large lake (everything grows here), natural and cultural beauty (I hope you can open and look at this and this), and low prices. We just had eight concrete stairs replaced over most of a week for about $1000 USD, and breakfast out for two yesterday (eggs, bacon, hash browns) was about $14 before tip.

And there is virtually no MAGA here, shooting is mostly confined to the cartels and their enemies, and religion is not toxic. Nor does the government flirt with theocracy. Although abortion isn't widely available yet, they're moving in the right direction:

"Since 2021, abortion has no longer been a federal crime in Mexico. However, the criminal law in Mexico varies by state. On 7 September 2021, the Mexican Supreme Court unanimously ruled that penalizing abortion is unconstitutional, setting a precedent across the whole country."

Also, interest rates on government guaranteed investments here are pretty good, and we feel that our savings are safe. From https://www.multiva.com.mx/pagare-multiva-persona:

Interestingly, we have kept about half of our deposited money in the States just to diversify for added safety, but if Trump is elected, we'll probably move the money there to Mexico, where it is likely safer than in accounts Trump can seize, and I'd imagine expats would be among the first to be robbed. Nobody would care.

For me, expatriation was like a divorce. Yes, I could have continued to live in America the way one could continue to live with a wife he no longer loved or respected, but do you want to if you don't have to? I wanted a fresh life and a new culture and perspective.

If you're ever interested in checking out this option, let me know

I thought that in 2020.
(But I was banking on Trump being in prison within 3 months. Here's hoping he will be in 2025. That may cool MAGA down a bit.)
