Obama Named Best President in Our Lifetime by Most Americans

A Pew Research poll released yesterday says that most Americans rank former President Barack Obama as the best president of their lifetimes.

44% polled named Obama as the best or second best President in their lifetime, Trump came in forth behind Bill Clinton who tied for second place with Ronald Reagan (both at 33%) with 19%.

What the conservatives in this forum don't understand and should be worried about is what does this say about how the Millenials and Gen X are going to vote in the next election? It doesn't look good for the Republicans. This poll should be making you say "Oh-oh"

It's a pendulum which goes back and forth. Back during the 30s and 40s, the Republicans were hitting the skids big time; the Democrats had a lockhold on power. Then the Republicans reinvented themselves as international commie-hunting warmongers and gained more popularity.

Meanwhile, the Democrats were becoming more divided and eventually imploded in the 60s, paving the way for Nixon, and then later, Reagan (who was helped immensely by Reagan Democrats who crossed over).

At that point, it was the Democrats hitting the skids, but then they reinvented themselves (and compromised their core principles) under Clinton. Clinton's support of NAFTA was a huge betrayal of the working class base of the Democratic Party.

The Republicans will likely shift as many of the older white males and other paleo-conservatives start to die off, which would reduce the numbers of old-time racists and nationalists in the party. They may still embrace their social conservative agenda and might be more welcoming of Latino and African-American voters who tend to align with the social conservative agenda.
