In a 2009 Poll, President Barack Obama was the most popular leader in the world:

In 2010, he is still the most popular leader, while His Holiness the Dalai Lama was the second most popular leader.

Seventy-seven percent of those surveyed chose Obama, which is one percentage point higher than when Harris Interactive asked the same question in November.

President Obama and the Dalai Lama rank at the top of a new poll measuring the world's most popular leaders.

Close on his heels is the Dalai Lama, Tibet's spiritual leader, who was mentioned by 75 percent of those polled.

The least popular leaders were Iranian dictator and Holocaust denier, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Chinese dictator Hu Jintao.

I cannot decide between Prime Minister Brown or President Obama. President Medvedev (Президент Медведев) is also making some positive changes in a country that is still somewhat undemocratic.

Done here.
Nelson Mandela, with Desmond Tutu a close second.

Since neither of them was an option, I voted for the Dalai Lama in the poll.

I personally like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and I think that tens of millions of Iranians would have agreed, had Iranians been permitted to participate in the poll.

I am also fond of Hu Jintao, despite having a general distaste for communists in general.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a psychopathic, mysongynist fascist. The blood of the Iranian people are on his hands.

I'd like to know who they polled for this. Last time I heard the majority of America was unhappy with him and the fact that we have him as our president was seen as a joke to other nations.

I am majorly uninformed on the world leaders the only one I can pretend to know would be Obama but I wouldn't vote for him just because I only know him.

Actually, from everything I've heard, world nations have thought of us much more highly since Obama came into office, although that may be more due to how much they hated Bush. In fact, I think there was a thread made over this.
What you just said about Obama is much more true for the presidency of Bush. I don't know where you got either the idea that the majority of Americans are unhappy with Obama or that he was seen as a joke among other nations.

What always tickles me is how conservative pundits use President Obama's approval rating as an arguement to proclaim how horrible a President he is, yet the Conservative hero, President Reagan, had his poll numbers dip below 40 percent in the beginning of 1983. As the economy recovered, so did his poll numbers. According to Gallop Poll, President Obama's approval rating stands at 48.8 percent.

Personally... I hate them all, except a few I'm unfamiliar with... so I chose Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; not for any reasoning that he really is a great leader or anything, but mainly just to show my contempt for any of those figures I'm familiar with and to acknowledge 'rhetoric style'.
