By more stuff, I suppose you mean more hangups.
I think he just means material "stuff".
However material "stuff" does lead to hangups so I suppose it logically follows.
I have no Idea what I would do with any more stuff? I feel no urge to convert all my cash into more stuff.
It's one thing for a president to encourage all kids to work hard and stay in school that's a reasonable use of the bully pulpit. It's another thing entirely, however, to have the U.S. Department of Education send detailed instructions to public schools nationwide on how to glorify the president and the presidency, and push them to drive social change.
I sent my children to school to be educated NOT indoctrinated.
The idea that school children across our nation will be forced to watch the President justify his plans for government-run health care, banks, and automobile companies, increasing taxes on those who create jobs, and racking up more debt than any other President, is not only infuriating, but goes against beliefs of the majority of Americans, while bypassing American parents through an invasive abuse of power
Unfortunately, I don't believe the Repbulican party is anywhere near comatose, and this is shining proof of it.The Republican propaganda machine is so very desperate because the entire Republican party is comatose.
I'ma have to disagree with you here. The president should not be glorified simply because he is the president. Why, if you had to glorify the president simply because he's the president, you would have to glorify George W. Bush. Or even worse... Ronald Reagan. I wouldn't want my child to be taught to glorify them simply because they're the president, why should I want them to be taught to glorify Obama? If Obama turns out to be worthy of respect (which I doubt, seeing that he's from one of the two major parties), I would see to it myself that my children understand why he's such a great president."How to glorify the president"? Really? He's the freaking president! I'm guessing this person has a shrine to Dubya in their house. If the presidency shouldn't be glorified, then what should?
STAND UP AGAINST IT. Tell your children the truth. Pull them out of public schools if it's that bad (which it is that bad, although not for reasons relating to this video).
The important thing is to make sure you form an opinion without actually watching the video. That's the way we do things in Amurca.Of course, I didn't actually watch the video, so I'm not sure how bad it is. Knowing Fox News, they're exaggerating if not outright lying, but knowing Obama, I certainly don't have a hard time imagining him trying to propagandanize all the children. Obama's all about rhetoric and glorifying himself. I'm not sure what to go with.
The world is gunna tell your kids ALL KINDS of things,
via school, media, upper management et all...
then renforced by friends, neighbors,family...
and you CAN'T stop it.
Instead of trying to "protect" them from "ideas"
why not just spend YOUR OWN time with them
DISCUSSING things... from ALL DIFFERENT angles...
so that they might learn how to actually THINk for themSelves.
Why try and protect your kids from the opinions and outlooks of others?
Would it not be far more beneficial to protect your kids from the inability
to discern what they see and hear around them...
and think for themselves?
These things should be springboards for discussion.
Can you believe that this is actually an issue? It's the President of the United States, for crying out loud. Apparently he's not even allowed to make a back-to-school speech about the value of hard work and staying in school without being villified.
Obama's Plan to speak to School Children ignites furor in Dallas
Maybe I'm older than I think.
Didn't Hitler make a similar move?
The adult support was thinning out. To further his own cause beyond present day, he began appealing to the youth of Germany.
I realize at this moment, this observation sounds extreme.
But with social tactics on the horizon..........
And of course Obama could schedule this 'historic' moment in prime time tv.
The parents could be right there to monitor the speech.
