Hey all,

I'm going away this weekend, and I won't have interent access, but I NEED internet access to work on my latest article for the magazine.

I can't seem to figure out these damn offline browsing softwares! None of the sites I downloaded to them seem to work once I go offline and try to get back to them!

Can someone PLEASE help? It's kind of very important!

Thanks guys!

To make a file or folder available offline

  1. Open My Computer.
  2. In My Computer, click the shared network file or folder that you want to make available offline.
  3. On the File menu, click Make Available Offline.
  4. Follow the steps in the Offline Files Wizard.
Important
  • Make Available Offline appears on the File menu only if your computer is set up to use Offline Files. For more information about setting up your computer to use Offline Files, see Related Topics.

I need entire websites to gather information for an upcoming article that I'm writing.

Because they're entire websites, I can't save just a single article, or page in word. I need the whole thing. Links and everything.

Aparently there's a way to do this, I just can't figure out how, and the software I've found is no help.

You wouldn't be able to save all links that the articles have as if you continue along that path you end up trying to download the internet onto your comp! I've only ever known how to save individual pages I didn't even know it was possible to save a whole domain.

Have you tried favouriting the website and then logging on to it and then in the tools menu going to synchronise, then hit then bringing up the File drop down menu and clicking on work off line, then going to the favourites menu and clicking the off line page.

Did that make any sense at all ? sorry I have the dumb.

BTW lots of sites use protocols to stop you doing this, so maybe it's not you it's them.

You can save all the individual pages you want be just doing "Save Page" and then view them offline. Other option is to get a mobile internet dongle and take a laptop with you, though that might be a bit expensive. Though I know you can buy them by the minute here instead of a monthly thing not sure about over there though.

Gah! So I've no hope then. ****. That sucks hard.

You can save an entire domain using adobe acrobat, if you have the full version

Of course editing any of the pages would be problematic lol

But I have downloaded an entire domain to acrobat before...(with links and all)

I still vote for the flashing, that will get more help here....

Is there any way you can steal the internet, such as hotel lobbies, cafes airports internet wifi hotspots ? Or some places have pay per use hotspots, they are the debil but if you really need it

I'm thinking the "dongle" option won't work since she does have an IPhone and it's an issue of isolation- right C1? I have a ubc modem that Verizon gave me for free but the monthly charge is expensive.

Do you have something like opera mini in your phone?

This place you are going to sounds horrible, no internetz  don't go, is it Libya, they have very dodgy internetz in Libya.

Sounds a horrible place. I like to be able to go see the countryside while having mobile broadband to tell everyone about how awesome it is.

:p

So Monta have you tried the Tools/Synchronize/File/Work Offline option? I've never done that. Cool.
I'm gonna try it when I get home 'cause I avoid the forests and woods- they have scary things in them and no internet access.

I never needed to try it before because I have numerous connections just incase, imagine being seperated from the collective, ughhh!!! But I tried it before I posted and then had to figure out how to get back on line
