Okay, so I'm not a moderator, but...

Kathryn

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
Hey, nonny nonny - jackboots AND a riding crop? Sounds almost too good to be true...

I understand the respect part and I always try to uphold myself in such a manner but why is opposing opinions not permitted?

Because those forums exist to build community among people with the same beliefs.
If you hold a different theology than the LDS (Christian or not) don`t post rebuttals or challenges to Mormon theology in the LDS section.

Take it to the debate forums where I`m sure some LDS member or 5 would be more than happy to debate the point.

I think that's part of their purpose, but not the most important part. To me, the main purpose for the DIR forums is to get accurate information from people who are actually affiliated with a particular religion. As I've reminded people countless times, if you want to really understand the beliefs of Islam, would you go to a Jew with your questions? If you wanted to be able to understand Catholicism, would you go to a Baptist to learn? RF is, to my knowledge, the only forum on the internet where you can learn about the tenets of many different religions from members of those religions, and not from their critics. That's why I think it's so critical that people know that if they ask a question on a DIR forum, they can rely on the information they get there, and know it's accurate. That's not to say that every Catholic, for instance, will answer a question posed in the Catholic DIR the same way, but it is pretty much a guarantee that the answers are at least going to be from a Catholic perspective.

Absolutely. That's what the debate forums are for. That's why RF is such a great site. You have the opportunity to learn about other faiths, but you also have the opportunity to express your opinion when you disagree. The whole thing is in learning which forums are for debate and which ones aren't, and sticking to the rules.

For the record - it's Katzpur's thread, not Kathryn's. Though, as usual, I do agree with Katzpur!

Notice - Katzpur has an upside down CAT as her avatar. Kathryn has an upside down DOG.

These differentiations are very important.
Yes, except that Katzpur is really Kathryn, but Kathryn isn't really Katzpur.

I think this post sums up the DIRs perfectly.
