On the merits of animal sacrifice

I've already stated that we should minimize suffering and waste, but we're still an omnivorous species.

How much should we minimize then? If you want us to only eat meat 3 times a week, we may as well become vegan then.

Omnivorous means that we can eat plants and animals. So then, let's just eat the plants. Most people clearly don't "need" to eat animals.

What the hell is a "man-made form of nature"?
The illusion that humans are a part of the "circle of life" and that the actions of other animals justify ours. In your first post, you said that it would be hypocritical for other omnivorous/carnivorous animals to eat meat and for humans to not, as we are all animals. Well, it doesn't matter what they do.

Also, what species' behavior isn't "biased" toward itself?
Well, if we rig the game and then say it's natural, then that's not fair. :)

Many accept industry mass farming, so why not a little bit of animal sacrifice?

With this you are speaking for un-civilizedness and superstition. The goodness (the state of we being lesser superstitious) that we enjoy now are the results of lot of sacrifices taken by our great forefathers.

We have a valid reason to support industry scale mass farming and slaughtering, but we don't have a valid reason to do an animal sacrifice because it is just based on superstition. I hope it clarifies this.

Is it really so bad to kill an animal in the name of religion? What if you eat it? What if you don't and instead cremate it? What separates killing and eating a pig from killing and eating a cat or dog?
Yes it is. Killing an animal just for superstitious reason is not acceptable for me by any standards.

The line between to kill one or the other animal is very thin. I can only say if you can't agree with killing a particular animal, never kill that animal and eat it. For me dogs are very lovable and i just can't agree with someone killing dogs to eat. but then its their choice, let them eat it but I just can't.

"We"? Who is "we"? You may not feel like you have "valid reason" to perform animal sacrifice, but I have many reasons why I find it acceptable. Why would you believe that animal sacrifice is only based on superstition?

What would those reasons be?
