I'm just having one of my moments thinking about the descrimination between christians against homosexuality. I focus on Christians because I talk, live around, in an environment of, and basically just in a Christian environment. I don't even have to have a conversation about anything controversal for me to feel the constriction between my faith and practice (Buddhism), my practice (witchcraft), and my life (my ancestors). I just have this nagging, inner gut feeling that I want to screen out to the world not to accept me but to respect me. Life just doesn't work that way. Religious denominations will always have some religious that will speak not only for their faith but have unhealthy ways of doing so. I dont even think they see what they are doing to hurt the people they talk with. My co-worker was telling me about the sin of homosexuality; she doesn't know I'm lesbian. I asked her, "do you at least understand that two people, regardless of gender, can have a commitment with each other even if you disagree agree" she said no. She doesn't understand.
Not understanding leads to illogical condemning. It leads to defensiveness without actually having empathy and wanting to step in the shoes of those who you do not agree with. As if you're going to catch some unknown disease.
I am generalizing.
When Christian's see this:
They find beautiful in matrimony. Are they looking at their gender or their commitment and marriage?
Then they see this:
A man and a woman sinning. They are heterosexuals. Of course everyone sins. I read this quote that said
I could go through all the scriptures against homosexuality and prove that what those verses talk about are not what homosexuality is; however, that will take too much time.
Let me continue:
Then, I think... I see the beautiful in the first picture of the man and woman. Why would I not? I see the lust in the second picture, if I were Christian, of course I'd think it were sinful.
I have to wonder about this, though:
Isn't that a beautiful picture? Where do you see the lust? Why is this not the same as the first picture I shown you? How does their gender mask their commitment? That's like saying in the first picture they are in love because they are boy and girl. Commitment has nothing to do with that. It comes with the heart first. Whomever we are with boy or girl comes natural. Our consummation of our love comes natural.
Anyway.... then we see this:
In the second and this picture above, do you see lust? Where is the XXX rating? Are are you assuming this is the case because of gender?
Assumptions hurt people. Regardless of your faith, assumptions create a wrong image of the person you are seeing. Then you forget about the other pictures (even the straight one) and focus on abominations. Where is that in these four pictures? The second one just shows a man and a woman's feet: there is no context. The one above just shows two men. They are wearing clothes!
Anyway....
Here is a list of quotes some of you may like to read. It's not R rated.

Christians, here are some scriptures that are exampled in a way that shows homosexuality, according to scripture, is not about men or women commiting their life to each other-in heart, mind, and action. http://peacetheology.net/homosexual...ebate-two-streams-of-biblical-interpretation/
While most likely this thread will only be read by moderators, it still goes to say that this is a pet peeve of mine.

There are six admonishments in the Bible concerning homosexual activity, and our enemies are always throwing them up to us usually in a vicious way and very much out of context. What they don't want us to remember is that there are 362 admonishments in the Bible concerning heterosexual activity. I don't mean to imply by this that God doesn't love straight people, only that they seem to require a great deal more supervision. ~Lynn Lavner, Butch Fatale, 1992
