By way of introduction I am new here and a little unsure of how things happen. I came across the topic of why God is male the other day and would like to add some things I've come up with. I base my understanding of these things on what the Bible has to say only.
One aspect of the nature of God I would like to present is that of Father. Hopefully the readers understand that "God the Father" is the father of "God the Son," ie. Jesus Christ. The importance of this goes back to Adam and tainted flesh. It needs to be understood (I could go through the scripture if need be on any of these point but don't for brevity) that the curse of death that Adam placed his descendants under is one of the flesh. It also needs to be understood that this genetic flaw comes down to us through our fathers.
The cure for that curse came in the form of the uncorrupted Jesus Christ. The only way for for Jesus to be uncursed was for his father to be uncursed I also hope that you understand that in humanity it take a male and a female to create a baby). This is the reason for Jesus having been conceived by God and not by man.
Only by His being untainted, or not under the curse of death if you will, was Jesus able to offer Himself up as a sacrifice for man and not be under the penalty of death for Himself.
This is one reason for God the Father to offer an attribute of Himself as being "male."
