I'm still not sure if there's any value in posting this, but I've been here for a long time and it somehow seems cathartic, if not appropriate.

I've been dealing with increasing (arthritic) pain in the upper-right quadrant of my body -- back, shoulder and upper arm, and chest. This prompted a series of X-rays and a subsequent CAT scan which found a 6 cm growth in my lung.

Yesterday I underwent a robotic bronchoscopy/biopsy. Results should be availably no later than end-of-day Wednesday. It will be a challenging couple of days with, perhaps, greater challenges to come.

Meanwhile, I am fortunate to have an outstanding medical system at my disposal, and I fully expect to achieve the best possible outcome.

FWIW, hoping you get good results. Please let us know when you feel able.
Wishing you the best.

  • Lung nodules are very common, and the vast majority of them are benign (not cancerous). More than 50 percent of our patients can be expected to have a lung nodule found on CT, and more than 97 percent of these nodules will be benign.

I just found out
  • that the 6cm mass in lungs is cancerous, but
  • that the surrounding lymph nodes appear to be cancer free.
This is, on balance, reasonably good news, since it suggests that the cancer has not spread and is, therefore, a candidate for effective, targeted therapy. :)
Have you given up smoking & binge drinking yet?

Weither we disagree or agree on things, I do wish for a speedy and well recovery.

I hope the therapy goes easily and well, and you are soon on the way to a speedy recovery...

A quick update:

We just returned from the oncologist who, after reviewing a couple of MRIs ad a PET/CT scan, confirmed stage-3 lung cancer, to be treated with chemo and radiation. The prognosis remains good, and we remain optimistic.

Best wishes. Hope the results are clear.
My understanding is that robotic surgery has a better outcome than the old method. Which is why hubby underwent a robotic surgery in 2017... He is still with us.
