Kalibhakta
Jai Maha Kali Ma!
Well, Aupmanyav, it is kind of like this, for the former, anyway.
Both religions are similar in the way of how Martyrdom works. Both religions respect and honor their martyrs, and not in the diseased way terrorists do. Sikhs "celebrate" (It's more of a remembrance of morning, really) Ashura along side the Shia because they remember their own dead by the hands of the wicked in much the same way.
Even the Hindus and Africans do so. In the Caribbeans, the Black slaves and marginalized Hindus both caught onto the observance because they sympathized with Imam Husseiin and his plight, and saw themselves in his struggle for truth and divine justice. The English banned it, horrified at this solidarity. They failed to destroy it.
There is a whole sub-caste of Brahmins in India who said their founder fought with Imam Hussein and his sons died at the Battle of Karbala. The Brahmin begged for mercy for his idolatry, and the Imam said there was no need for such forgiveness, because the way he was, fighting for truth, was Good enough in his eyes. They are devoutly Hindu, but are proud of their association with him
I respect whoever loves God/The Truth and is noble. People of any religion who love god more then their own ego will do the same.(Mutual respect, even if in acknowledgment their religions are incompatible .)
The later is Geo-Political stuff is that the idea of however flawed Iran is, Saudi-Pakistani interests hurt America and India more then Iran ever could.
Sorry for the massive derail.
