I hope FFH won't mind my reproducing his post form "The miners "thread -
On the 3 page of the book "Rachel's Tears" this scripture is quoted.

Matthew 24: 40

"Then shall two be in the field, the one shall be taken, and the other left."

Excerpts from Rachel's journals:

"I am not going to apologize for speaking the Name of Jesus, I am not going to justify my faith to them, and I am not going to hide the light that God has put into me. If I have to sacrifice everything...I will."

"This will be my last year Lord. I have gotten what I can. Thank you."

The morning of the killings at Columbine High School Rachel said to her Mother as she was getting ready for school, "Mom, I don't know what I am going to do with you. I am not going to be able to take care of you anymore."

Later that day she would die a martyr at age 17.
I have had a feeling, for a long time now, that yes, it seems as if only the Good die young. Perhaps they need to 'suffer' less time, before being able to 'be at peace with God'.

It actually fits in rather well, with the reincarnation theory; one short sharp and nasty lesson to learn in life......might as well get it over with.....

And then I think of the Popes, of Mother Teresa, and people like them, and get 'lost' in my mind again......

What do you guys think ? Is it a case that the Good die young ? - or is it a coincidence ?

The good die young? Michel from my own experience I can't see that someone's character makes any difference in their chances to live to old age. Maybe you are bending the facts to suit the idea (as everyone tends to do).

I think that when our mission or purpose in life is finished we could be taken at any moment.

Absolute nonesense!
People think its more of a loss when people die young its seen as sort of romantic and that angers me when older simply get "Ah well they had a good run"
Wonder what you would think about someone who lived to 130 ;)

The young lack wisdom and take unhealthy risks which they usually get away with until that day they say "oops too late".
Then Darwin again, wins the day.
Reincarnation? Yes as bacteria and worms in the soil.

cheers

How old are you? :)

Works only if the teleology of reincarnation is to tune up souls so that they get old enough to be...not Good.

And then I think of the Popes, of Mother Teresa, and people like them, and get 'lost' in my mind again......

The Popes? Mother Teresa? What makes you think that they were Good?

"Only the good die young"? A wacky platitude, no doubt repeated because it sounds profound. It ain't.

This thread must be bad then because it's 9 years old and it just came back to life.
