Opinion of Amish

I admire the Amish very much. I've never encountered an Amish person in real life, but I did have a lovely experience with their close "kin", the Mennonites, at a Mennonite Church in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, many, many years ago, and I will never forget their love, warmth, humility, and hospitality.

I have traveled to the Americas and visited many Old Order Amish/Mennonite colonies and I have read many books on the subject.

To join the Amish you don't have to be Dutch, you just have to be willing to live every aspect of their lifestyle.

Yes, but the Amish also value community, and to be considered truly Amish, you've got to be baptized into one.

Yeah, they are awesome. They definately deserve credit for living without lifes pleasures. Seriously, imagine living without things like ELECTRICITY? Granted it wouldn't be extremely hard if you were born and raised that way, but it would be when you, for example, go into town on your horse.
