Oh, I am a pessimist...I responded to the thread before the choices came up. If I go around being a pessimist, I can never be disappointed - sometimes, I can be proved wrong, and get a pleasant surprise.

Which one makes you a realist?

"The pessimist complains about the wind;
the optimist expects it to change;
the realist adjusts the sails."

I am enlightened or insane. I know I'm not yet enlightened, but I'm working on it. Whether I'm insane or not, well, that's debatable.

Some see the glass as half full, while others see it as half empty. I see it as a chance to try a new drink on the second round.:beach:

I voted 1,2 and 6 depending on my mood of the moment. I guess I'm a optimist, pessimist and thirsty at times.

It depends on whether it was previously more full or more empty.

If you take an empty glass and fill it half way, you say it is half-full.
If you take a full glass and drain half of it, it becomes half-empty.

The answer is based in the goal. Have you filled the glass or are you trying to drain it?

Too literal?

I voted:

It is half-full
It is half-empty
It is both half-full and half-empty

The fourth choice is false and the fifth choice made no sense to me.

"The engineer sees the glass as twice as big as it needs to be."

:D

And the scientist says: to call the glass half full or half empty is inadequate. What is the exact volume of the glass? Exactly how many milliliters of liquid does the glass contain? Exactly how much gas does it contain, presuming that the top of the glass is defined as the end of the container? Is our glass representative of the large population of glasses? Plus a few dozen other questions describing the properties of the glass and its contents in an empirical fashion...

They'd also say: we have an n=1. This is a woefully inadequate sample size.
